Fatherhood doesn’t exist in a vacuum and I am a product of those who nurtured me. Beginning with my mother and father then extending to the village that raised me. That has allowed me to be the father I try to be for Amina, Laila, and Amaya. Additionally that nurturing has allowed me to be a father figure and role model to many. I never take that for granted. Today was full of emotion as I got a chance to be part of @daveontv documentary on Black Fathers. It was so good to share such an important space with you again my brother! Much love! Take some time to check back in with @humanitypictures for more about this project and other amazing work. You won’t find a more genuine, caring, and purpose driven person out there. He’s also an amazing Black Father! We are the narrative. There is no counter narrative 💪🏽🖤

Started writing Chapter 46 today. In every way it has already been written & this life’s journey has been one of purpose. Blessed YES, easy NO. Or as Skip would say, “People see the glory but don’t know the story.” I genuinely appreciate all the love today & for the record I love being 46 lol. I been outside & I’m going to stay outside because I was put on this Earth to be a conduit for LOVE. Ak September’s Very Own #SVO 😎 “I’m a child of the essence so my morals is different. Took big steps to get here, my euro is different.“ - Fab

Most folks know how much my 14 years at @youthbuildphl meant to me and how much the students and staff contributed to my growth. It was community at its core. It was authentic relationship building. It was an exchange of learning. It was intentional culture building. It was laughs. It was tears. It was celebration. It was reflection. It was restoration. It was dismantling broken educational norms. It was reclaiming. It was Respect. Excellence. Perseverance. I’m excited to be the Master of Ceremonies for “A Night for YouthBuild” this Thursday, May 14th. I’m checking in with all of the graduating classes I was part of from 2005–2019 and encouraging you to tap in and see how far YouthBuild has come and the legacy you are part of. I’m also encouraging graduates I’m connected to who predate my time at YouthBuild to join me on Thursday as well. The ticket link is in the YouthBuild page bio. Message me if you have any questions. I may have room for an additional guest or two, but please message me if you’re serious about engaging. Lastly, drop your favorite YouthBuild memory in the comments to keep the vibes and the YB Way alive. 🗣️YOUTHBUILD YOUTHBUILD…HOW YALL FEEL?? 🗣️SOLID SOLID! 🤞🏽💙💛

I’ve been blessed to be part of many amazing things personally and professionally. Quite honestly it has to match both if I’m going to be part of it. It has to match my values, speak to my soul, and be a source of renewable energy for my spirit. I feed it, and it feeds me. PYB is one of those places, and the center is one of those spaces for me. The physical building is one thing, but it’s really the young people I’m watching grow up right in front of my eyes, the community members who frequent, my colleagues, our partners, the first time visitor, the lighthearted moments, the full-belly laughs, the big hugs when you need them, the bounce of the ball, the running and playing in the hallway, the reminiscing with old friends, the spark of new ideas, the new learnings, the curious questions, and the energy of it all happening at once. A beautiful village from A to Z. It’s my safe space, just like it is for many others, because of the people who create it. Again it’s quite simple to me. What I described is the so-called magic. The people that make this beautiful community that I get to be part of. Come out on Thursday, April 30th for the Sneaker Ball and experience your own version of what I get to experience on a daily basis. Tickets still available! #WeArePYB Ticket link in bio and on story 🕺🏽👟🏀🤩😎

Hard work, discipline, and true teamwork. This group has shown all season what’s possible when you stay locked in, trust one another, and give everything you have. So proud of them for bringing it home this recognition is beyond deserved. Thank you again @councilmemberquetcy ! Now it’s on to Harrisburg w/ @andredcarroll for another incredible opportunity to be celebrated and represent our city in a meaningful way at the state level. Excited for what’s ahead as they continue to make our community proud.

Since Black History is every day, stop by PYB on Wednesday for a night of celebration and fellowship. I’m really excited to hear Brother Michael Coard get active while Brother Ismael Jimenez moderates the community conversation. These are two amazing brothers I’ve known, admired, watched, and learned from for quite some time. The event is free and will feature performances and plenty of Black vendors to support. And if you haven’t been to PYB yet, this is a great chance to check out some of the dopeness we’re building in the space. Tell a friend to tell a friend and pull up. Registration Link in Bio
