Join us for an immersive 3-hour workshop dedicated to the art of Lino Printing, led by the talented artist Jantze Holmes @ajuryofbees This workshop is designed for complete beginners, we will dive into the fundamentals of Lino Printing, a popular printmaking technique that involves carving designs into a block, applying ink and then printing the design. Jantze will be showing you techniques which use simple tools ( no printing press) and will be easy to replicate at home with little expense.  It’s suitable for all levels (no drawing experience is necessary and lots of source material will be provided to copy, trace or draw round to create a lovely design!)  All materials will be provided, including blocks, carving tools, ink, and paper. So you can just turn up and learn something new! Ticket link in bio

Recent drawings and garden photos: It’s the start of the loveliest time of year (though actually I do love summer, autumn and winter too) - lots of ladybirds, lots of frogs and lots of green xx

New name! - A Jury Of Bees - I’ll be using this name for my “public facing” creative practice / workshops / prints/ zines/ shop. It’s from something I wrote a long time ago. I like it so I’m going to use it 💚

The front room is my studio and the living room is where I dry my prints when I’m running out of room. This evening, I have a row of harebells and some gladioli prints hanging up to dry. #printmaking #studio #botanicalart

Here are the last few copies of SIMPLE SIGNS (THE WORDS) from the first print run. If you’d like a copy, DM me. Simple Signs (The Words) by Daniele Pantano, with Ludwig Wittgenstein and Jantze Holmes, and with a preface by James Reidel, designed and produced by Barrie Tullett, and published by Caseroom Press. The sixty-six haiku in this book are based on five- and seven-syllable fragments farmed from Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. The haiku are beautifully illustrated with linocuts by British artist @ajuryofbees . The American poet, translator, and scholar James Reidel wrote the Preface. And the fantastic @barrietullett designed and produced the book. Simple Signs (The Words) ISBN: 978-1-905821-47-1 UK: £30 plus shipping US: $40 plus shipping

I drew this tiny bottle of typewriter oil, partly because it’s such a pretty object - but mainly because it had a lovely history. It was given to us, along with an old typewriter (the Bar-Let, with coloured keys) which it belonged with. Our friend had inherited it from her mum, who had bought it new at the 1938 Glasgow Empire Exhibition. The typewriter lived in Glasgow up until it was given to us around 20 years ago. My drawing ended up being printed in Typewriter Art: A Modern Anthology (by Barrie Tullett and published by Laurence King in 2014) and we still have the bottle with its cork stopper (the typewriter still works perfectly of course!). #typewriter #vintagetypewriter #inkdrawing

You can’t say I didn’t warn you! I’m going to be running a workshop at @notquitenorth_ in Lincoln on Thursday 28th May (5pm-8pm). It’s going to be in the upstairs room and it will be a really lovely way to spend a few hours making and creating handmade Lino prints. The theme will be wild plants and I’ll be helping you from start to finish - you don’t need any previous experience. You can find out more by going to the link in my bio - or you can send me a DM if you have any questions about the workshop or the venue. #lincolnshire #printmaking #ajuryofbees #notquitenorth

Some of my favourite plant books & various leaves and inky water, around the house. I usually leave a trail of these types of things wherever I go.

Print it and See is an artists’s book. I did a series of prints made with very old wood and metal type. It was an exciting way to work with the letters. The book is digitally printed at the same size as the original so you really get a feel of the textures and beauty of the type. I have some books for sale and they’re £15 (+£2.50 postage). If you’d like a copy or just more info , please send me a message and I’ll send you more details. Or you can go to the link in my bio and you’ll find a link to buy it there. #Artistsbook #caseroompress #type #pattern

This is the slow thinking stage. It’s about the curve of a line or the way two colours will play against each other. Thinking in colour and breaking it down into layers. Most of the decisions are made here #linoprint #printmaking #drawingprocess #artistprocess #studiopractice

Just a reminder (to myself mainly) to keep enjoying things! I love birds, I love paper, I love colour, I love Lino printing and I even love making TikTok videos 😊
