Peak of my contribution to @iowaartfield , opening this Thursday Oct 30th. A lovely group of artists I am honored to show with. Link in bio. These drawings would not have come to know themselves without the support of artist and master paper maker, @nicholascladis . Thank you, Nick!
So happy to be a part of this exhibition opening next week in Iowa City!

Featured artists: Tony Orrico, Lydia Diemer, Bea Drysdale, John Engelbrecht, Paige Wilkinson, Savanah Bustillo, Matthew “Em” Garcia, Nicholas Cladis, Jeremy Chen, Hannah Givler, Sugimoto Hiroshi
Two special events:
Thursday, October 30: Opening tours of the installations, followed by a happy hour at PS1 Close House (12p - City Park, 2p - JCHPF, 4p - Close House)
Saturday, November 1, 5-7pm: Brief talks by artists/curators followed by a reception at PS1 Close House
IAF is hosted by Public Space One and made possible with support from the City of Iowa City Public Art Matching Grant and the collaboration of Johnson County Historic Poor Farm and Iowa City Parks & Recreation.
Continuing to introduce our eleven artists for Iowa Art Field, opening October 30! Today we introduce the fantastic maker and performer Tony Orrico @ajorrico ✨ Tony will be showing in the historic asylum at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm. He has been working with Nicholas Cladis @nicholascladis to create specialized handmade papers for his physical, time-based erasure work in the asylum, which has been taking place over several weeks and will culminate with the opening of the exhibition. We’ve been very moved by Tony’s ongoing, thoughtful response to this space.
Tony Orrico is a visual and performing artist whose practice investigates mental and physical endurance as well as mark making. Their work is held in the permanent collections of Muzeum Susch (Switzerland), Kablanc/Fundación Otazu (Spain), Bergmeier/Kunstsaele (Germany), Colección Ca.Sa (Chile), The National Academy of Sciences (Washington, DC), Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (Mexico), and the Stanley Museum of Art (Iowa City), among others.
Presentations include at the Centre de Cultura Contemporà nia de Barcelona, Centre Pompidou-Metz, Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (Beijing), The New Museum (New York), and forthcoming, Museo Picasso Málaga.
