Three months from today: the paperback edition of Cinema Love, with a new set of clothes..! 👯‍♂️ This book changed my life. It brought me to book festivals around the US and UK; helped me meet my first writer friends; was chosen by Dakota Johnson as a @teatime.pictures Book Club Pick; was translated into a bunch of languages; was nominated for some nice things; and (perhaps coolest of all) was interpreted in a burlesque number by the fine people at @booksandburlesquenyc ✨ The past few years have been some of the happiest of my life, and it’s all thanks to this strange little book: about closeted gay men, their wives, and how hard it is—amid loss and loneliness and failure—to let the past go. Available June 09, 2026.

what happens when you turn 29

One year (and five months) of Cinema Love. This book changed my life. The US paperback comes out next year. So does the French hardcover. So perhaps I will have to do this family portrait again. But in the meantime: I’m so grateful to the editors (esp. @pilarakiko and @ybpublishing ) my agent @kentdwolf , the translators, and everyone else who touched this book. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
