MEET THE COLLABORATORS | GIGI & ANTONIA ❤️
GIGI DAHILL-FACHEL | Composer
We’re thrilled to welcome emerging composer Gigi Dahill-Fuchel (@gigidafu ) to MUJERES — a dynamic New York–based artist whose work seamlessly bridges choreography, performance, and original music composition.
A Ballet Hispánico alum and graduate of George Mason University School of Dance, Gigi is a frequent collaborator with choreographers and founder of Beats Per Movement— a modern composition studio creating intentional, inspired music deeply connected to movement.
ANTONIA CONTRO | Visual Artist
We’re honored to highlight artist Antonia Contro (/about.html) (@ajcontro ), an acclaimed and widely exhibited artist, and creative muse and collaborator to PARA.MAR and Adrianna Desier Durantt, whose expansive body of work has deeply informed the visual and conceptual terrain of MUJERES.
Artist Antonia Contro’s work explores time, language, movement, light, and shadow. Contro artfully challenges perceptions of “ordinary” and overlooked objects to reveal deeper meaning and unexpected ways of seeing them.
With MUJERES, PARA.MAR responds to her themes and imagery as a natural companion in shaping the production’s visual language.

The first of a series of small watercolors I’ve been leaning into the past couple months (a bit obsessively, also reverently) of single found objects in my surroundings—on the walk to my studio, in my still moribund garden and the woods, and in my surrounding spaces. Humble things that beckon my observation and study, and that possess my attention and my hand for hours and days on end in my studio. #watercolorpainting #studio #contemporaryart #meditation #observing
“Vista,” projected video in tent, 2007–8. Site specific exhibition at the Notebaert Nature Museum, Chicago, installed on their grounds in a series of tents of dramatically scaled tents. The tents, and my multimedia works inside of them, referenced nature stations, and navigation system systems – a lighthouse, a star map, a campfire.
“Vista” was created in collaboration with animator @jomer71 #installationart #animation #artinnature #cloud #contemporaryart
“Equilibrio” is an edition of 8 bronze sculptures, and one artist proof in 3 patinas. It was inspired by a small wood sculpture of mine made from altered vintage art forms and poured wax medium, and cast by @scgentner —a true collaborator and artist—at Gentner Fabrication.
Making these works was such a rich experience—learning about and working in this alchemical medium and process, connecting and making critical decisions with Sam, and taking on new artistic risks. 1. “Equilibrio” in 3 patinas 2. “Equilibrio”, 1/5, sandblasted and waxed 3. “Equilibrio”, 3-8, verdigris 4. “Equilibrio”, 1AP, black patina 5. Wood sculpture that inspired “Equilibrio”
