We surprised our families and wedding guests with a performance of the Mexican national dance: El Jarabe Tapatío. Just a week before the wedding, Romain suddenly had the idea and I had only three intense lessons to learn it! It turned into such an emotional moment, where our cultures came together to the rhythm of the night 🥹
Introducing our story. What started as serendipitous encounters around the world flourished into building a life around our passions. We’re thankful every day for the opportunity to create together. What began as a love story became a creative partnership, and eventually, the foundation of our agency.
There’s a certain spark that happens when the soulful vibrancy of a Mexican wedding meets the nostalgic charm of Super 8 film. It’s as if this vintage medium was always destined to capture the rich traditions, soulful energy and raw emotions of Mexico. Our wedding story preserved frame by frame, becomes a cherished memory we’ll treasure forever.
A big thank you to my best man, Stewart, with whom I’ve shared this passion since day one 🎞️
Mexico is shaped by centuries of history, craftsmanship, and traditions passed down through generations. Each of its 32 states has its own distinct heritage, deeply proud of its customs and artistry.
Incorporating these elements into our wedding felt like a way to honour Mexico’s cultural diversity, and to celebrate my husband’s roots. Every detail was chosen with intention, from textiles to ceramics, music to food, each carrying a story of identity, pride, and community. This was our way of sharing just a glimpse of something so meaningful to us 🥹🇲🇽
It was my dream to honour Mexico’s culture with something fun and colourful for my wedding dress. A few years ago, I met Nelly, the Latina designer behind Guinand, at a wedding and her custom pieces never left my mind.
With only four weeks to go, I assumed it would be impossible, so I started looking online instead. But at the three-week mark, I thought… if I don’t ask, I’ll never know. So I messaged Nelly with everything crossed. Somehow, she said yes 🥹
We chose a bright orange taffeta which is completely out of my comfort zone as I live in neutrals, but I trusted the vision… and I’m so glad I did ✨ The hand-embroidered flowers were the perfect appliqué detail, as it was important to me to include a touch of Mexican craftsmanship into the design!
What started as a last-minute idea ended up becoming a long lasting emotional moment from our wedding 🥹
We knew it would mean a lot to my husband’s Mexican family if I, a Brit, learned Jarabe Tapatío (the traditional folk dance of Jalisco, where his mum’s side of the family is from). It felt like a small gesture, something meaningful but simple.
But we really didn’t expect the reactions we were met with. You could feel how much it meant to them in the moment, how deeply rooted it is in their culture, their memories, their identity. It brought out so much pure joy.. it’s something we’ll carry with us forever 🇲🇽✨
We wanted our wedding to tell a story: one of Mexican craft, culture, and traditions. We traveled across various states, meeting artisans and sourcing pieces hechas a mano, each with its own history.
The guests were invited on a journey: Otomi tablecloths from Puebla, custom tile table numbers from Tlaquepaque, terracota pots from Tonalá, piñas from Michoacán, hand sculpted candles from Oaxaca, lotería talavera tiles from Cholula, a hand embroidered dress from Mexico… every element was made by skilled artisans nurturing their love for their craft 🇲🇽
I fell in love with Mexican culture: its colours, its traditional dances, its music, its craftsmanship, its warmth. Mexico has so many treasures that we wanted to honour at our wedding from bailes Veracruzanos, to alebrijes, emotional boleros, Oaxacan candles, handembroided Otomi… This day wasn’t just about us, it was about two cultures coming together, and honouring the people and the traditions that brought us here 🇲🇽✨
We wanted to take our guests on a journey through Mexican artisanal craft, rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions. We travelled to various states of Mexico to discover details hechos a mano, meeting the artisans behind each creation.
First, the cocktail dress by @guinand.condesa hand embroidered with colourful silk flowers in Mexico City. For the cocktail: each table featured piñas vidriadas, a traditional decorative element from Michoacán. As a nod to Romain’s equestrian childhood we arrived as true charros on horses to the Plaza Delfines.
To proceed to the dinner we created lotería inspired seating plan: instead of paper cards, we had them crafted from Mexican Talavera pottery, featuring its various cultural symbols which made for a perfect keepsake. The dinner tablecloths were embroidered with blue Otomi motifs from Puebla. We completed the tablescape with intricate candles, named contentadas, hand sculpted in Teotitlàn del Valle, Oaxaca. These represent divine blessing and protection for the bride and groom. The menus featured designs inspired by papel picado. The ceramic table numbers were custom made in Tonalá.
For florals, Aisha envisioned a warm, orange palette with tropical flowers like birds of paradise, tones that naturally merged with the sunset. Lastly, Barro pots crowned the entrance of the dinner setting, highlighting traditional Mexican terracotta and agave plants, a strong symbolic element emanating from the region of Jalisco. All harmoniously came together, joyfully celebrating Mexico’s authentic soul.
