2007 “Shopping on the Dancefloor” by Purple Crush .. peak blog house .. indie sleeze before the term .. Studio B was our Danceteria even if it only lasted a short while, we made DIY NY magic before the window closed. We had to capture a cultural time capsule and even though we get erased from the think pieces on this special era, like the Queers and Women of movements so often do, we made our mark, placed pop songs on club beats which made way for the gagas and keshas. a few years later we moved to LA and found solace in the underground drag and ballroom community. i often ache for the fire that drove us back then, but thankful to still be influencing culture from the underground. I just finished reading “This Must Be The Place” by @walkonthewildsidenyc if u desire the pulse of musical movements i highly recommend it. Was reminded of the party we threw at Glasslands that turned into a twerking fest which drove the landlord’s son into a frenzy, flooding the bathroom and blaming it on the Queer kids.
