It takes guts to say what you stand for, and even more to state what we don’t. At AIR we spent the last year redefining this for ourselves. We call ourselves “architects of experience” because we create spaces that spark a feeling. Like air, the feeling of a space is invisible but essential. At Air, we create the atmosphere that makes people feel welcome, comfortable, and connected — subtle qualities you can’t always name, but make all the difference in how the space is experienced.

Tomorrow night. A room full of people who give a damn about Melbourne's built future, at one of the city's most design-led studios. We're sold out, but the waitlist is live. If you've been thinking about coming, this is the moment. Speakers are Jill Garner @jill_snowqueen , Andrew Hoyne @hoynedesign , Katherine Sundermann @sundermann and Michael McCormack @milieuproperty . Moderated by Tava Darakamaran. What does effective collaboration look like when designing precincts in our city? Sculptform, 50 Queen St. Doors 6pm. Drinks and nibbles to follow. Part of Melbourne Design Week 2026. Link to the waitlist in bio. A big thank you to the partners making tomorrow night happen. Proudly presented by @integrasurfaces . With special thanks to our major partners @airdesignstudio for their continued support, @dlxphotography.com.au for capturing the evening, @restaurant226 for the food, and @sculptform for generously hosting us in their space. The night doesn't happen without them. #ThePlaceNetwork #MDW2026 #MelbourneDesignWeek

Not every child experiences a space the same way. So we designed one that works for all of them. This is Magical Kids in Truganina, built with neurodivergent kids at the heart of every decision, from the colour palette to the acoustics, and the tunnel leading into the space. Because every child deserves to walk in and feel like it was made for them. #InclusiveDesign #NeurodivergentDesign #InteriorDesign #MelbourneDesign #AIRDesignStudio

Colour tells a story before a single customer walks through the door. Janine walks us through the palette behind Kori Ice Cream Windsor — where every shade and material was chosen with real intention. #KoriIceCream #DuluxColourAwards #RetailDesign #InteriorDesign #MelbourneDesign

Every detail in this home has a reason behind it. From the north-east facing windows that flood the space with natural light, to the layout that naturally guides you through the home — this extension was designed with real intention. Three gardens frame the home, a front garden for street side presence, a hidden side garden off the living area, and a south-facing Japanese-inspired retreat, complete with beautiful Shou Sugi Ban cedar cladding. Eid’s Home extension is elevated for flood resilience, designed for natural airflow and temperature regulation, and finished with spaces that flex to how you actually live — like a dining space in front of the bedrooms that doubles as a study and social hub. This is what happens when architecture meets everyday life. #HouseExtension #ShouSugiBan #MelbourneArchitecture #InteriorDesign #ArchitectureDesign

Empty stores aren’t a foot traffic problem. They’re a design problem. Swipe to see why — and what we do about it. #RetailDesign #InteriorDesign #DesignStrategy #MelbourneDesign #AirDesignStudio

In an era of hybrid working, what draws people back into the office? To explore how we can rethink our buildings and precincts to better attract, engage and retain people, we're thrilled to be part of a thought-provoking panel presented by Collectivity Talks – an initiative of @communicationscollective – during MelbourneDesign Week 2026. Join our Head of Design Janine Kariyawasam (@air.designstuido ,Head of Design), Adèle Winteridge (@Foolscap ,Director), Giovanni Susta (@STRealEstate ,Director), Ian Briggs (@PlusStudio ,Director), and moderator Genevieve Brannigan (@communicationscollective ,Director) on Wednesday, 20 May for a conversation on how hospitality is reshaping the workplace. From activating ground floors to repositioning heritage assets, the discussion will look at how these approaches contribute to more vibrant and engaging CBD environments. Register here to secure your ticket: https://designweek.melbourne/event/from-amenity-to-experience-hospitality-and-the-evolving-workplace/ When: Wednesday 20 May, 5:30-7:00pm Where: Level 8, InvictaHouse, 226 Flinders Lane, Melbourne #CollectivityTalks #MelbourneDesignWeek #InvictaHouse #WorkplaceDesign #HospitalityDesign

We are incredibly proud to announce that Kori Ice Cream Windsor has been named a finalist in the 2026 Dulux Colour Awards (Commerical Interior - Workplace and Retail). Kori is a reflection of who we are: thoughtful, expressive, and intentional. We started this project with a simple mission — to do better in retail design, and seeing that vision recognised is a huge honour. A big thank you to everyone who played a part in this success and to our community for following along on this journey with us. #DesignAwards #KoriIceCream #MelbourneDesign #InteriorDesign #DesignInspo
