Danke für die Blumen!!!! Wir sind stolz drauf. „Being Franziska van Almsick“ ist nicht nur die erfolgreichste Doku-Serie in der ARD-Mediathek 2025, sie ist jetzt auch zweimal ausgezeichnet worden. Den ersten Platz haben wir beim Verband Deutscher Sportjournalisten gewonnen, den dritten Platz beim Internationalen Sportjournalisten Verband. Für die „Sport-Oscar“- Verleihung waren wir in Lausanne. Ich hatte das Glück schon mehrere Fernsehpreise in meiner Karriere zu gewinnen. Es ist immer wieder wunderbar, wenn man solche Wertschätzungen bekommt. Incluso, al emprender el retorno, al pasar el chequeo de seguridad aeroportuario, el hermoso trofeo fue detectado por los rayos x del aeropuerto de Ginebra. La chica de seguridad me preguntó qué era lo que llevaba y, al explicarle que era un premio por la excelencia de una nota de periodismo deportivo, llamó a sus compañeros, les contó qué llevaba y me dieron un aplauso! En el aeropuerto de Ginebra! Se me volvieron a caer las lágrimas…
Parece un sueño, sí, pero el enfoque no cambia. ¡Seguimos en esto! 🙌🏻
Days have gone by and… It still feels like a dream!!!
Then, as I was heading home and going through airport security, the beautiful trophy was detected by the X-ray machine at Geneva Airport. The security officer asked me what I was carrying, and when I explained that it was an award for excellence in sports journalism, she called over her colleagues, told them what I was carrying, and they gave me a round of applause! At Geneva Airport! Tears welled up in my eyes again…
It feels like a dream, yes, but my focus hasn’t changed. We’re still at it! 🙌🏻

🏆 Historic Win for Afghan Journalism
🇦🇫 Salma Niazi has made history as the first Afghan to win an AIPS Award, taking home the Young Reporters Writing Award at the AIPS Sport Media Awards in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Held at the iconic Olympic Museum, the ceremony celebrates excellence in sports journalism worldwide. Niazi’s achievement marks a major milestone for Afghan media and emerging voices in global sports reporting.
✨ As part of her prize, she will receive a scholarship to cover a major international sporting event.

With only a few days left before the deadline, the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2025 will feature entries from at least 100 nationalities. The Awards are the global prize for sports journalism, accepting up to two submissions per person in any language, free of charge. All sport media professionals – from journalists to photographers, video makers, producers and commentators – are eligible to participate.
Organised by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), which counts 161 member countries, the global character of the Awards has been evident since the very first edition in 2018. Each year, entries have come from at least 100 nations, reaching a record of 140 in one edition (2023), and a total of 166 countries across the first seven editions.
1) Is there a fee to enter? No. Submission is completely free.
2) How many works can I submit? You can submit up to two different works across all categories.
3) What’s the deadline for submitting? There is time to submit until 4 November 2025, 10 pm Central European Time, without exceptions.
4) What kind of works are accepted? We accept all original works that were first published between 5 November 2024, and 4 November 2025.
5) Under which categories can I compete? The 8 senior categories are divided between Writing (Best Opinion Column; Best Colour Piece), Photography (Action Photo; Portfolio), Video (Short Feature, Athlete Profile, Documentary) and Audio (for all types of audio reports, podcasts, radio). In addition, there is a Young Reporters Under 30 category, optional for those born after January 1, 1995, and split into Photography, Writing and Broadcasting (Audio & Video).
