The news this week has been unavoidable and made me so so SO angry. The week started with Monday being International Women’s Day and is ending with Mother’s Day on Sunday (today). The days in between have been harrowing to see unfurl, with the death of Sarah Everard and the peaceful socially distanced #ReclaimTheStreets vigils across the country being terminated by the very people put in power to protect us.
Seeing the images from the vigil in #Clapham of police stamping on flowers/signs and manhandling innocent women who attended to pay respect.. we need some real change.
I’m sick to the back of my teeth of watering myself down because women’s issues are just accepted as the norm. I’m sick of it. All women, every woman, deserves better. I don’t and will never care for the #NotAllMen hashtag until the 97% statistic decreases.
Think of your sisters, your mothers, your friends, your daughters, your aunts, your nieces, your coworkers, your teachers. Women. Deserve. Better. Than. This.
