It was a real joy to write about seafood in the Highlands and islands for The Guardian this week. My favourite thing to eat, in my favourite places.
Growing up in Glenfinnan the lorries of fresh shellfish would thunder through from Mallaig on route to Edinburgh, London, Paris...without stopping. It's been wonderful to see more of that seafood stay local, and be prepared with such skill by people who really care.
We also used to get our Guardian delivered off the train when I was a kid, and it's the newspaper I've always read, so there's an extra thrill and huge privilege there too every time.
Read it online now, just search for my name. Then maybe plan a trip? 🦞

Home from a brilliant week in Slovenia! We traveled around the west of the county with our two tall teens and full of beans 10 year old and had such a fun - and full on- trip.
First, Lake Bohinj, the quieter slightly wilder alternative to Lake Bled, for hiking, canoeing and a stay at the lovely @hotel.bohinj@lakebohinj@ifeelslovenia
Delighted to see my feature on hiking in Valais in The Guardian today.
Here's a few photos of an incredible trip, and there's a cute wee pal at the end of carousel if you get that far!
Huge thank you to @franlambo@switzerland@valaiswallis@saasfee@jane.dunford.travel 🇨🇭
First loch dip of the year, last Tuesday evening before the snow returned to the Cairngorms. Only possible because of this beautiful sauna on the banks of Loch Alvie.
Thank you Linda @yogasaunacairngorms for a wonderful session, and the watery photos too.

From basketball pick up, straight to pizza, I'm calling that a win*. This kid is playing games five days straight this week so should probably have eaten my pizza too.
*game was also a win 🏀👏
