This felt fitting for the beginning of spring. I loved the chance to decorate with hydrangeas again. Now I’m dreaming of a garden full of these beauties. A mix between grandeur and delicacy. In our region you must amend the soil profusely in order for them to grow, which while being tempted to do, does not seem practical in this stage of life. Alas I will be content with roses, cosmos, and volunteer sunflowers.

All these wedding cakes are making me nostalgic so I went and dug up some pics from me and Sam’s wedding. It was August in Texas and the AC stopped working during the ceremony so of course the cake started to melt. My mom had an amazing friend come to the rescue and keep the cake together long enough for us to cut it. It was one of those, “We’re cutting the cake NOW before the top slides off,” kind of moments. Then typically I don’t want cake smashed in my face, but then again, it was like, “We’re freakin married, of course we’re smashing cake in each other’s faces!” We were past being proper at that point, ok (the dancing had already gotten a bit unhinged 😂). I have zero regrets. ❤️❤️❤️

The wedding cake dreamt of since childhood. What a pleasure and honor it was to create this cake at the special request of a bride who had dreamt of it since she was a little girl. It felt so special to be able to be a part of making those dreams a reality.
