Finally able to release some pictures from my time designing for @lightscameracymru !
Over the Rainbow was daunting because the script came through and I was like āWEāRE GOING TO OZ!?!???ā
While a project set in Oz is a dream for any costume designer time and budget wasnāt exactly on my side so I tried to get what we needed done and apart from not being able to find a pair of riding boots I was very happy with the overall look.
Some of the looks had deeper details, Iām particularly happy with my little emerald city poster that I drew myself for our heroās t-shirt that he hides for most of the short and his silver shoes lent to us from the kind folk at Marigolds, as well as some nice white collar and deep blue motifās in our love interestās Oz and Earth outfits .
Obviously I wanted to go full on with the flower headdress and wide sweeping petal like panels of the 19th century gowns in Baumās book but Ozma and Glindas outfits leant a little more to the designs seen in the The Wiz.
This shoot simply landed somehow with nothing but rain being the problem and I love how much potential it showcased as out cast and crew of trainees did a phenomenal job! Love a short like this! Also I am pleased to share a deleted lil scene of the legendary Ruth have a lil victory dance in the form of a very young looking 90 year old.

Last year saw the premiere of the gorgeous short Never Never Never which I had the pleasure of I had by providing the costume design! On this side of the new year I bring the treat of screening not only this short about a nostalgic love story but also a selected group of other Irish Prize short movies from around the world AND a live Q&A interlude with me about my work on the short film!
Book your tickets for the 3/02/2025 at Pontardawe arts centre with the link here!

Coming back to Pontardawe after 15 years to talk about my career is a very circular moment for me so it would be lovely if this could be shared as the Iris prize is a phenomenal opportunity for LGBTQ filmmakers to look into and provides encouragement for local talent to embrace! Pontardawe was where I experienced performance for the first time in my teens so itās surreal to be back with this little moment!
See you there!
