We are proud to announce that AIDarchitecten, in collaboration with Sweco, has been appointed to develop the spatial policy plan for the municipality of Wuustwezel. Together, we will work in the coming years on a widely supported and forward-looking spatial vision for Wuustwezel. With a strong focus on participation and research by design, we aim to build a policy framework that strengthens the municipality’s identity and guides its long-term spatial development. We look forward to an intensive collaboration with the municipal authorities, stakeholders, and residents to shape a clear and ambitious spatial future for Wuustwezel. At De Dennen care site in Westmalle, AIDarchitecten designed a new meeting pavilion with living space for the service flats. The elongated volume with pitched roof connects to the care home and frames the village square, creating a clear and welcoming centre. Inside, large glass corners flood the space with light and views of the gardens, while cosy niches offer smaller places to rest. Built in CLT timber with red-orange tiles and wooden joinery, the pavilion combines simplicity with warmth. harmoniously blending architecture, landscape and care. woonzorgcentrum De Dennen Picture credit : Charlotte Boeyden 2025 @dedennenmalle #AIDarchitecten #Westmalle #CLT #timberarchitecture #sustainablearchitecture #carearchitecture #architecture #care #dedennen #woonzorg #woonzorgcentrum

With townhouse Leopold , we transformed a characterful yet dilapidated townhouse into a vibrant hospitality venue with meeting facilities and a residence above. The result is a place where meeting, living, and working harmoniously come together in the heart of the city. Small scale, respect for the building, and a sustainable restoration and reuse were the guiding principles. By designing the ground floor to be open and inviting, we created a warm hospitality space that also offers room for meetings and small gatherings on the first floor. Above the venue, a residence was designed that breathes light, comfort, and flexibility. Sustainability guided every design decision: wherever possible, we chose to preserve and reuse existing elements. During the restoration, the original wrought-iron columns were rediscovered behind boarded-up false facades. Contemporary interventions combine energy efficiency with future resilience, giving the townhouse a new life without denying its history. For the interior, the operators carefully and sensitively selected the right architectural elements and details, with a strong sense of texture and materiality. The project is an example of micro-scale urban renewal, where living and working coexist under one roof. The three Atmosphères Mobile Sculptures by Belgian artist Florence Coenraets are set up above the bar at De Pastorie. Restored several times and recently by Aidarchitecten @aidarchitecten , the one-Michelin star restaurant De Pastorie hosted in a historical building dating from the 17th century has become one of Lichtaart’s jewels and a perfect match of contemporary interior design and cultural heritage. Located in the heart of the village, it stands in the shade of a magnificent century-old trumpet tree. The former pastor’s residence is now home to a warm and elegant gourmet restaurant in Flanders. Its magnificent garden and terrace, has previously been elected Belgium’s most beautiful terrace by Gault & Millau. — Atmosphères Mobile Sculptures, bespoke for De Pastorie @florence_coenraets Architects @aidarchitecten thanks to Kristl Bakermans & Gerd van Zundert One-Michelin Star Restaurant @restaurant_depastorie thanks to Loes, Wout and Carl Wens Photo @cafeine #florencecoenraets #atmosphère #mobilesculpture #depastorie #michelinstar⭐️ #aidarchitecten #spazionobile #spazionobilegallery #spazionobileprojects #interiordesign #restaurant #terrace #lichtaart #kasterlee #featherart #featherartist

behind the scenes… Today, the Site Botanic seems ‘self-evident’..., but it was a juggling act to bring the old buildings up to contemporary standards in terms of construction and building physics, while at the same time preserving their simplicity and coherence. Special attention was paid to integrating all techniques and acoustics. All required standards; contemporary sustainable techniques and thermal comfort; fire safety and accessibility, almost invisible within the historical framework. A hotel of this size and class must be able to operate like a well-oiled machine: deliveries, waste, storerooms, service areas, etc. The various buildings are connected - sometimes underground - so that the visitor does not notice all the practical and organisational hustle and bustle that goes on behind the scenes. There is something unique about the site Good at Beaulieu. Apart from the fact that it is protected heritage and its architectural value is effectively written in black and white, a visit to the site triggers all kinds of emotions. The green polder landscape along the River Lys leaves little unmoved. But that in itself is not what makes this site unique. The old Frankish site with its six buildings around a central courtyard is not often encountered. At least not in fairly pristine condition like the one found here. The buildings embrace the visitor, as does the open space around which they are nestled. Patches of the surrounding landscape appear between the buildings, giving a glimpse of the vastness for which the buildings provide protection. Safe and open at the same time. But mostly slow. The Good at Beaulieu does slow down. A quality that in today's hurried society is losing more and more. The new programme the builder wants to implement on the site is encouraging . No exclusive programmes for the happy few, as could probably be very well integrated. But a slow café, a place that puts people first. Like the site, the project that will find its place here does slow down. Here, everyone can work, live, dwell or participate at their own pace. We see no added value in adding anything, it would rather detract from the existing. Partly for this reason, the first and only justifiable step is to examine whether the new programme fits into the existing structures. There is nothing more sustainable than not building. The plan we present here answers the most pressing questions in terms of programme, heritage and budget. It combines the given programme with maximum conservation/restoration of the existing buildings, within the available budget. The closed character of the buildings, which is an integral part of the heritage values, is preserved in the present design. @jan.minne @erfgoed_en_visie @sensibleatelier @fourmind @atelierbau.be Vlaams bouwmeester Open oproep 2024 (no win) #architecture #flemisharchitecture #aidarchitecten #vlaamsarchitectuurinstituut #vlaamsbouwmeester #archdaily #monuments #erfgoedvlaanderen

Quality embedding of multifamily house in Brasschaat. The building also elegantly makes the transition between the tall urban buildings on Bredabaan and the rather village-like profile in Aerdenlei. In this project, form and functionality go hand in hand. The entrance is organised around a patio with a water feature. This patio also provides ideal sunlight for all the flats. The branch garden on acts as a collective outdoor space. The architectural language of form refers to the architecture of the interbellum period and the many modernist gems of Brasschaat.
