***3rd Annual Winter Coat Drive Alert***
(This year with an A.I Poster!)
It’s getting f***ing cold!
After an insanely generous turnout in 2023, this year I’ll be back on these streets picking up any warm clothes/donations/gift cards you have to offer.
These will all be going towards community outreach in Toronto’s East End/Regent Park. Have been lucky enough to partner up with @lorrainelamchops the past few years who does great work in the area and does an incredible job at getting these resources into the hands of those that need it most.
If we have the type of relationship where, if you were to see me at a bar on my birthday, you’d would consider buying me a small overpriced beer or large overpriced beer then please please put that into a donation towards some Tim Horton’s or A&W gift cards. For a lot of people these are the only places to stay warm on a freezing night due to the city still severely lacking in its access to warming centres.
Things needed the most:
1. Coats that have zippers that work, second hand or new are both great; as long as they’re in decent condition. BIG need for men’s coats this year.
2. gift cards (especially to 24/7 places where people can stay warm: Tim horton’s, A&W)
3. Men’s/masculine water-resistant winter coats (smaller-framed individuals can usually fit into these and to no surprise, we always get women’s donations)
4. winter boots / shoes - less clunky is helpful if you think about how people are walking around alot
5. warm hoodies, sweat pants, thermal base layers, hand warmers
6. winter sleeping bags, tents, and tarps
7. backpacks
I’ll be driving around Toronto/GTA tomorrow if you have stuff ready to go. Will also be doing a trip or two between December 29th and January 4th. If that doesn’t work for you but you’d still like to donate, let me know and I’m sure we can work something out.
So please give your closets a clean and reach out!
Thanks to everyone who has already donated and please share this widely.
Stay warm,
Happy Holidays!
Indie film is such a weird thing. A group of strangers come together to tell a story and then part ways. Some films stick with you and others fade away (or you try to forget). This one stuck. Big time.
I loved this crew so much. They/we worked through wildfire smoke and the hottest subway temperatures ever recorded. All in the name of capturing a love letter to Scarborough, Toronto and the people that make these city so special.
Helmed by incredibly talented and vulnerable leader @moviewala . I’d follow him anywhere he’d want to go.
The film stars the sweetest and most charming duo of @saamertime and @amy4syth with beautiful performances from Bernard White and Pamela Sinha
Written by your new favourite novelist/screenwriter @whotookadnan and @moviewala
Shot by the sweetest soul @peter_hadfield
Gorgeously designed by @nicole_simmons__
Truly Couldn’t have done it without my wonderful AD Team: @clairebonduro@akhil_kitani@priyaduguay@nishanthyt
