The madness of making it happen!
@owenhewlitt and I have slowly been working on this video on and off during the summer. I really wanted to make something that shows the obsession with my projects weather it’s movie making, props, or working on vintage bikes I can’t just casually work. I find that my work transports me to what ever world the project is set in and I stay there until it works or crashes and burns.
ALIVE!
This marks my forth little story shot this year. I’m really happy with how this turned out! As I go down the list of movies tropes and genres I was feeling ready for a Frankenstein style movie. Instead of a gruesome monster I found a sentient ai creature so much scarier. Thanks to @fanboy_vizsla for playing the creator of this creature we dubbed as “one eye Pete”
Man I’ve been waiting to post this one… It’s taken me a couple of weeks to digest everything that has been happening. Last year I started to get the itch to make a proper home movie/short film but it wasn’t until I saw interstellar (one of my all time favourite movies) in IMAX that I realized I was gonna go for it. While watching I started to question if I really could make a space flick and how I could do it with a small budget. I also knew if I was gonna go for it I would want to shoot everything practical. This is mostly because I don’t know how to use 3d rendering or cgi. The movies I love are all done with miniatures anyways so I went for it. I spent 4 months sourcing parts of the set from marketplace and value village. From there it took me 5 days to build the set. We shot everything in the cockpit in one night. Then came the burnout. For nearly 5 months every waking hour was spent obsessing over how I was gonna do this. I stepped away for a bit to work on other art as I knew I was gonna try and make a night out of the premier. just in time for my upcoming art show I finished shooting the miniatures. After many hours of editing I was proud to say I had finished my silly little space movie. 8 months packed down into a minute and twenty four seconds. To everyone who made it out to the art show and stuck around and waited to watch I can’t thank you enough. To all my friends that helped me make this idea become reality thank you.
BIG NEWS!! 🚨
For the last 6 months I’ve been working quietly on a massive project. I’m so stoked to finally announce my first solo art show “Into the shadows”. This August the 15th I will be showing off many new paintings, illustrations and will be premiering a short film I’ve been working on. The show will be happening in the biggest piece of art I’ve ever made @levelthirteenthirteen . some other small film stuff will be shown by my very talented buddy @owenhewlitt . Get stoked to see some awesome fantasy art, props and many more of my creations. I can’t wait to see you there!
