Alison Long will perform bed-rotting for a live audience. Visitors can interact by DMing Instagram reels for her to watch or offering takeout food. ​Jiaba supper club @jiaba.supperclub will be partnering with the event as the creative caterer with a special menu designed for the exhibition. Food and drink tickets are available for purchase at online registration and at the event. For one week, Accent Sisters’ gallery becomes Alison Long’s crusty dysfunctional bedroom, a restless resting space. The bedroom appears as a site of everyday living and everyday failure. We invite artists into an intimate conversation about bed rotting and burnout as cultural phenomena of contemporary life. From our rotting selves emerge expression, humor, image-making, confession, and performance. Exhaustion becomes meme, language, posture, aesthetic, and social bond.

I have been bed-rotting in my tiny bedroom for days, scrolling obsessively on a feed that goes nowhere. I once had ambitions for projects and visions for art. I kicked all my ideas under my bed, along with last month’s dirty laundry and an army of empty take-out boxes. Truth is, I’ve always had problems. A case of ‘executive dysfunction’, ‘task paralysis’. I’d delay drinking water, going to the bathroom, going to sleep. I barely managed before. Now everything is going to sh*t. ______There are: 3 emails I need to write. 2 calls I need to make. 1 trip to the post office, which is too many blocks away. 5 deadlines that already passed. 4 open calls that I will miss. I lose my apartment in a few weeks. My Visa expires in a few months. We turn thirty in a few years. But I’m still here, chewing on finger-nails wide-eyed in the dark at 3am. _______I’m not leaving this room. So you’ll have to come find me. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened. I will offer you a place beside me at this alter of paralysis, and we shall rot together as one. For a week, Accent Sister’s gallery is my crusty dysfunctional bedroom. I will be bed-rotting for a live audience during the opening. Submit your artwork to be a part of it. We are calling for submissions of all medium that relates to the theme above. The selected pieces will rot together in said bedroom for a week at Accent Sister's gallery in Union Square.
