I went to Germany this summer and made something I love.
The project:
“Christening: A prologue”
“Before stepping into the unknown, these pieces pause to honor the path that brought me here. Recognizing the foundation that makes the next possible, christening my embarkment.”
The Poems:
“Oppressors
One in the shape of a man
The other in his vices
The wars that wage within us and around us
Some won with sewing needles others with sharper weapons
Disagreements about Gods name and what to do about a young girls hair (and the muchness of it all)“
“Opportunity
the cruel mistress
and the generous giver
ever-present and always elusive
She is chased across borders
and buried beneath the Ozarks
held in the soiled hands of a mother who dug so deep
expelled from the aching lungs of a father who ran too far
Given to a child who knows nothing of the cost”
“I sat beneath the sun
before my mind knew of time and its passing
my hands moved color
my mother was proud
we were happy together
my mother, the sun, and I
I swam beneath the sun
in clothes that would make my father happy with me
I jumped in expecting my courage to be returned
we waited together
my father, the sun, and I”

One of our favorite and most unique dining experiences in Paris! A natural wine bar that has rotating chefs and menus. The food was incredible and everyone there made us feel like family. A must see when in the city.
