Very excited to be directing my first show for the Toi Whakaari second years as part of this double bill season.
I’ll be directing Animal Farm a work that feels very different in form, content and style from anything I’ve made before. That’s what excites me most about it.
This process feels like a space to test, trial, fail, discover and experiment alongside the tauira. To sit inside a world of power, propaganda, revolution, media, animals, machinery and chaos and ask what it means to make theatre that speaks directly to the now.

Feeling grateful, nervous, energised and ready to get into the rehearsal room.
More soon.

Join Sam and Trevor as they move through the secret, 1987 analogue world of gay cruising in parks and public toilets. This staged reading offers frank, often funny conversations about sex, desire and survival.
We're inviting audiences into the development of a new play with post-show discussions after each performance.
As part of the Wellington Pride Festival and in celebration of 40 years since homosexual law reform, we’re honoured to present a special three-night play reading of a bold new work in development.
This is a chance to sit in story, history, and possibility together.
Join us as we celebrate the journeys that brought us here, and the voices shaping what comes next.

Marking Thaipusam which concludes today. I got to visit our local Murugan temple this weekend after being away for many years. I have many mixed emotions about this place. This temple started off in Webb Street (which was Mudra Dance Company’s former studio) by group of community members who wanted to ensure there was a space for us all to come together. Many of those founders and early committee members are no longer with us but their servitude for the community lives on. Grief and gratitude side-by-side.
I still think of my Wellington bride Sonia, who’s one of the most thoughtful brides I’ve ever met. To be fair, I’m deeply grateful that I’m a bit of a kind and lovely bride magnet in general — but Sonia truly raised my bar.
Absolutely stoked that I caught this raw moment so up close. I usually lurk in the back with a 🥹 because after spending several intimate hours together leading up to the walk down the aisle, I can’t help but feel emotional for them. Being trusted in such tender, once-in-a-lifetime moments is a privilege I never take lightly.

Happy New Year! Agreed to do an early morning hike with my friend and his family because ‘it would be a vibe’ they said. Here’s to vibin’ more in 2026.
So we did a thing and we’re not really allowed to talk about it yet, but I just had to share that after years and years of hoping, I finally made my debut directing for screen. @balamuralishingade took this wee lil pic of me on day two. They say it takes a village, and it truly did and I’m so thankful to everyone that came on board to help us make this thing that you no doubt will hear all about from early next year. I hope I get to direct more for the screen in the future.
