증기 속에 사랑과 믿음의 향 The Scent of Love and Faith in the Steam 전작 《이상촌의 도깨비 디제잉》이 서로 다른 목소리들이 만드는 청각적 조율을 통해 공동체의 가능성을 모색했다면, 이번 전시는 비가시적인 감각의 침투를 통한 공동체의 실존적 조건을 탐구한다. 그 탐구의 중심에는 ‘식구(食口)’라는 개념이 놓여 있다. ‘함께 먹는 입’을 뜻하는 이 단어는 공동체가 관념적인 결합 이전에, 같은 공간에서 같은 대기를 호흡하며 생존의 조건을 공유하는 물리적 단위임을 시사한다. 냄새와 온기는 형태를 지니지 않으나 공간을 빈틈없이 점유하며, 그 공간 안에 머무는 사람들의 호흡과 피부에 침투한다. 본 전시는 밥냄새와 살냄새라는 두 축을 통해, 같은 공기를 마시고 서로의 체온을 감각하는 행위가 어떻게 개별 존재들을 하나의 범주로 묶어내는지를 보여준다. 이상적인 공동체에 대한 실험은 거창한 구호가 아닌, 매 순간의 호흡과 피부의 부대낌이라는 본질적인 사실 위에서 비로소 구체화된다. If the previous exhibition Dokkaebi DJing in Utopian Viliage explored the possibility of community through the auditory tuning of different voices, this exhibition investigates the existential conditions of community through the invisible infiltration of the senses. At the center of this inquiry lies the Korean concept of 식구(食口, sikgu — a communal body formed through the shared act of eating and breathing together). More than simply referring to people who share meals together, sikgu describes a communal relationship formed through sharing food, air, and the conditions of survival. It suggests that community is not first an ideological union, but a physical unit that breathes the same atmosphere and inhabits the same conditions of existence. Smell and warmth possess no fixed form, yet they permeate space completely, entering the breath and skin of those who remain within it.
