HAVÅND [Ocean Spirits]
HAVÅND sprang from a desire to co-create a costume-driven dance performance. The idea and concept was developed by Frida Barfod and Agnes Saaby Thomsen, who wanted to work with the idea that the ocean is protected by spirits and deities, who are awakened when the ocean is in crisis.
In a month long residency at
@statensvaerksteder last year the shape and story of the ocean spirits was formed. Textile manipulation and form experiments and were tested and tried on the body in movement together with talented choreographer
@mygronholdt . The inspiration came from jellyfish, sea anemones, corals, sea slugs and other magical, quirky and beautiful creatures of the ocean.
This summer you can experience HAVÅND at
@hjertelandfestival @heartlandfestivaldk
HAVÅND [Ocean Spirits] is a walking dance performance for all ages.
Two colourful spirits, have risen from the ocean, insisting on our attention by their presence. The spirits carry the memory of the deep and are trying to make us remember and feel the spirit of the ocean. Through dance and costumes the magical world of the ocean is brought to life, creating presence, community and optimism.
