Do you bring kindness, creativity, and a great sense of humour to everything you do? We’re looking for a caring and confident Dementia Coordinator to lead and support our dementia services—helping us create days full of connection, laughter, and meaningful moments.
In this role, you’ll be right at the heart of things, planning engaging activities, supporting a brilliant team of staff and volunteers, and working closely with individuals living with dementia and their families. No two days are the same, but every day is about helping people feel safe, included, and valued.
We need someone who can organise, inspire, and bring people together, while never losing sight of the small things that make the biggest difference- a smile, a chat, a shared memory, or even a good singalong! 🎶
If you’re warm, organised, and passionate about making life brighter for people living with dementia, we’d love to hear from you.

Happy Birthday Ray! 🎉🥳
Another year older, wiser… and still causing just the right amount of chaos! Hope your day’s filled with laughs, cake, good company and absolutely no acting your age 😄🍻
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and it’s an important reminder for all of us to look out for each other older and to support positive mental wellbeing.
Around 1 in 5 older adults in the UK experience symptoms of depression or anxiety, and many more are affected by loneliness and social isolation, which can have a significant impact on both mental and physical health.
We also know that mental health issues in later life are often under-recognised and under-diagnosed, meaning many older people may be struggling quietly while still trying to carry on as normal. With an ageing population, most of us will know, love, work alongside or care for an older person who could benefit from a simple check-in or conversation.
At Age UK Gateshead we see every day how powerful connection can be. Through our support services, friendship groups, day opportunities and community activities, we work to reduce isolation and help older people feel heard, valued and included.
But support doesn’t always need to be formal. Sometimes it’s as simple as popping in for a chat, picking up the phone, or going beyond a quick “how are you?” and really taking the time to listen.
A small moment of connection can make a big difference 💬💜
Our MCST group had a visit from @gatesheadlibraries 📚✨
They brought along photos from the good old days and it turned into a brilliant trip down memory lane 😄👀
Lots of laughs, “remember that shop?!” moments, and some really good outfits (and a few questionable ones!) hiding in amongst it all 💭💜
Let’s just say there were a few questionable hairstyles and fashion choices we’re all politely pretending we didn’t take part in… and plenty of “we genuinely thought that looked good at the time!” 😄
Thanks again to Karen and Michael for coming along 😊
Looking to meet new people and enjoy a friendly chat? 💜
Come along to our Leam Lane Friendship Group with @embellscic for laughs, games, cuppas, delicious food and most importantly some great company 😊
📍 St Andrews, Leam Lane

Don’t live near Leam Lane? Don’t worry — we have groups all over! Send us a message and we’ll help you find your nearest one 💜
Happy International Dance Day 💃🕺
Whether it’s a bit of kitchen boogie, a proper routine, or just a sway to your favourite song today’s all about moving your body and feeling good doing it.
Dance has a way of bringing people together, lifting moods, and creating moments of pure joy (no matter your rhythm 😉).
And if you fancy taking it a step further, why not come along to one of our dance classes? A great way to keep active, meet new people, and have a good laugh along the way 💛
So go on… turn the music up and have a little dance today you’ve earned it!
