@icalondon the original place it was first shown in the UK over 30 years ago! Akira redefined anime and it's appreciation in the West, introducing UK audiences to Japanese animated, mature content, and creating space for future generations of groundbreaking cinema!
It was very special to meet and chat with industry leaders Takeshi Katsurada, manga editor at Kodansha and Andy Frain, co-founder of the iconic Manga Entertainment (and one of the first people to see Akira in the UK)!
@alltheanime is bringing Katsuhiro Otomo's masterpiece AKIRA back in a special re-release but this time IN 4K from the 17th of April in
@imax_uk and cinemas across the UK in both Japanese with English subtitles & English dubbed versions! This is one of those films that no matter how many times you watch it it doesn't get old and everytime you find something new to appreciate and dissect! It's no wonder it's been the core subject of so many PhDs 😅👌
