Hi friends, I made an experimental DIY short film by myself, without a budget or a crew. It consists of an insufferable soundtrack and 862 crudely animated still photos.
I wanted to make something off the beaten path, blurring the lines between short film and music video, live-action and animation, music and noise. With no use of AI, hand-crafted and rough around the edges, like a xeroxed punk-rock zine coming to life.
It premiered at the @newjerseyoddities Film Festival last weekend (receiving a nomination for “Best Visuals”), and slated for a screening next month at the @folkestonefilmfest in Kent (UK), where it’s up for “Best Art Film”. Hopefully it will disgrace the big screen of a couple more underground festivals early next year, then I’ll put it online.

Stoked that my path crossed with Swedish avant-jazz-punk collective @slutavverkningmusik . I’ve put out their last two releases on @feralcuts , only because I’m a huge fan and couldn’t wait for anyone else to do so. Then a mighty surprise package showed up at my doorstep earlier today, with all of their earlier (mostly out-of-print) releases to round out my collection. Just the nicest folks in music biz! Four year anniversary of our Interprovincial Z-Movie & A-Music Club. Nearly 200 of the worst movies are behind us, but with thousands more ahead, we keep on damaging our eyes and brains together until the bitter end! 📼🍿
It’s been 6 years since the premiere of this psychedelic DIY horror short. On no other project I had to compromise creative ideas more (which is why I haven’t made another short film since), but looking back I’m happy that we managed to pull this in four days, from pocket change. It had a great festival run, picked up a couple of awards and I still love the music by @mattharveymustbedestroyed and poster art from @artofalexcf . Thanks for all who helped making it happen!
I had a lot of fun preparing pre-order packages for the upcoming debut album of @slutavverkningmusik , out Sept. 1st on @feralcuts .
I’ve been thinking about starting a DIY record label for half of my adult life and couldn’t be happier that I finally got to kick it off with such a uniquely deranged oddity!
