I didn’t expect I’d feel different turning 40. I figured it’d be a continuation of 39, no need to overhype it. And I was pretty fine with that. Esp since every single one of my neurons and mitochondria have been allocated to surviving this absurd timeline we’re all currently on.
But now that I’m just over a month in, I’m pleased to discover I was wrong. When the clock struck 40, something switched in me… a pressure valve released in one way, a closed book in another. Some angsty ish still nags at me, some simple things like functioning knees and regularity bring pure joy. It’s all mixed up into this latest version of being.. my very Korean agony-filled allergy to aging, my rage against the machine, my drastically altered fuel tank, my shifting priorities and preferences, my healing femininity, my intolerance to bs I spent 3 decades years just smiling and gritting my teeth through, my joy in solitude, my growing indifference to shallow praise, my middle finger to disrespect, my recognition of time flowing/speeding up/beckoning to me but also being completely uninterested in whether I do anything or nothing at all. Life is constantly revealing itself to be totally up to me in cahoots with God/Universe guiding me along and throwing curve balls to keep things interesting. 🤔 Soooo so far, tired as I am, I quite love it here. 😌
I have much more to discover, loads still to let go, anxiety to weather and manage, trust falls to brave, bold moves to make, and many many many naps to take. Here goes nothing. And everything! 🫶🏼
