A fun little project I got to work on recently. I was asked to paint these adorable fur babies and I missed painting in watercolor so much, I hopped right to it! If you want your fur babies painting too, shoot me a DM. #petportrait #furbabypainting #afrotriangle

I went on a little making spree these last couple of weeks. I had a blast making the rings. There are still a few not featured here. I'll share as soon as I figure out how to keep the wire ends from snagging. #handmadejewelry #copperjewelry #afrotriangle

I've come back around for the coconut shells. There's just something about them that I love working with. This time, I wanted to see what would happen if I stitched them together. What do you think? #afrotriangle #jewelryforsale #coconutshelljewelry

Yesterday we had the honor of welcoming the Boulder City Manager’s Office, the Boulder City Attorney’s Office, and Boulder Arts & Culture for a tour of Black Future in Art. Nearly 40 people joined us, and I’m deeply grateful they took time out of their busy day to spend it with the artists and the work. Time is one of the most precious things we have — something we can never give back — so it meant a great deal that they chose to be present, ask questions, and engage with the exhibition. The energy in the room was thoughtful, curious, and truly wonderful. A special thank you to Cindy and Patrick for organizing such a meaningful visit.

I'm still in jewelry making mode. I've been really enjoying wire weaving. It's intricate work and takes ages, but it's so worth it! #afrotriangle #jewelryforsale #wirewrappedjewelry

The jump ring making process for those curious about how that's done. You know how your pendants come with this little loop that the string or chain goes through? That's the jump ring. You make them by coiling a length of wire around a rod, then cutting out each ring. You could use a wire cutter, but I prefer the results when I use a saw. The cut is flatter, making a near invisible seam when the ring is closed. This pendant is a hand -carved coconut shell disc. If you like it, check out the shop on my website. 2 inch wire wrapped amber pendant I got the answer from @alchemy.ritual.goods on my last trip to Denver. I love holding it up to the light and looking at the warm tones, but I'm willing to let it go. If you like it, send me a DM or check out the link in my bio. #afrotriangle #wirewrappedjewelry #amberjewelry

Which black tourmaline pendant do you prefer? I became fascinated with wire wrapping in my late teens and played with it for a while. Then life time me in different directions, so I put it down. Every few years, I remember it again. I still have my tools so lately I've been playing. I went down a Pinterest rabbit hole, looking at all kinds of different styles and methods of wire wrapping. I must have pinned over 200 images! After my intense period of research, I was ready to start making some things. I picked these two stones up at @alchemy.ritual.goods on my last trip to Denver. Which do you prefer? The simple wrap, or the more indicate one? Let me know in the comments below, and if you want one hit me up in my dms, or head over to my website. I have been carrying around these coconut shells for a good 10 to 12 years. Once upon a time I was broke! I need money quick and my resourcefulness saved my butt. Somebody had thrown away a leather couch in the alley behind my home and I went out and I stripped that thing of all of the leather. With my new materials in hand, I proceeded to start making and selling leather cuffs. Once people understood that I was making things out of recycled material, they started giving me all kinds of things and I started collecting all kinds of things. Including these coconut shells. My fortune shifted and I did not need to make jewelry as I did before, so I put away my materials. I did however bring them with me everywhere I moved to. Fast forward and I am in the space where I just want to play artistically. Could I use the money? Sure, but that's not entirely what this is about. This is about me revisiting the things that brought me joy and allowing myself to create without having such a specific agenda as the Women Behaving Badly Works had me focused on. I love making things with my hands and exploring the possibilities of materials. If you see any pieces that you like, send me a DM or just check out my website using the link in my bio.

I found this amazing jeweler in Rio! Oh yeah, I'm in Brazil right now. One week down, one week to go. I've had an amazing time so far, and will be posting more soon. So, about this guy, it was so amazing to see, not only his gorgeous creations, but to watch him make something on the fly like that. It was such a pleasure to talk to him about his craft and to see the joy he had in creating and the pride he had in his work. Check his stuff at @flordemacambiraartederua
