Celebrating Black Creativity with Ogilvy UK for Black History Month 2025
Last week, I had the pleasure of joining a panel at Ogilvy UK as part of their Black History Month events,an experience that was both inspiring and thought-provoking.
It was a privilege to introduce Afropop Socks and share a bit about the journey, from the cultural inspirations behind our designs to some of the real challenges I’ve faced building a Black-owned business in today’s world.
The conversation covered creativity, representation, and how Black-owned brands can move beyond being “categorised” to being recognised for great design, quality, and storytelling that speaks to everyone.
For me, one takeaway stood out: Black creativity is creativity, it doesn’t need a qualifier.
A huge thank-you to Matt and the incredible team at Ogilvy for the invitation, warm welcome, and opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful discussion. And big respect to my fellow panellists Fola Odumosu and Mileta Miller for the insightful exchange.

I never expected this from 14 year olds!
These young minds left me absolutely speechless. Their curiosity, their bold questions, their passion… I came thinking I was there to teach, but very quickly realised it was me who was being taught. Their energy reminded me why creativity matters and why the future is in powerful hands.
I was truly blessed to be part of an incredible, up-and-coming creative event bringing together 10 schools from across London. To stand in a room filled with students aged 14–18 along with their dedicated teachers, all diving into workshops and creative exploration, was something I’ll never forget.
A massive heartfelt thank you to the Victoria and Albert Museum for inviting me to take part in such a meaningful and inspiring event. I’m honoured, grateful, and still buzzing from it.
We’re so pleased to share that Afropop Socks is now officially stocked at the Natural History Museum in London! 🧦✨
This moment means so much more than just seeing our products on the shelves. it’s about representation, creativity, and cultural storytelling finding space in one of the UK’s most iconic institutions.
At Afropop Socks, our designs are inspired by the colours, patterns, and stories of African heritage. To have these pieces of culture sitting proudly in a space that celebrates history, identity, and discovery feels powerful, it’s a reminder that our stories belong everywhere.
Every pair of socks we make is crafted to spark joy, start conversations, and connect people through shared appreciation of art, design, and culture. Being stocked at the Natural History Museum is not just an achievement for our team,it’s a celebration of Black creativity and innovation being recognised on a global stage.
If you’re visiting the museum, make sure to stop by the gift shop and spot us on the shelves! 👀💛
Thank you to our community for always supporting and believing in the vision, this one’s for all of us.

I started Afropop Socks because I wanted to turn the joy, colour, and pride I grew up around into something people could wear every day. My mother’s vibrant African clothing inspired me, but the dream became bigger than fashion. It became about culture, confidence, memory, and creating something people could connect with. #AfropopSocks #FounderStory #africaninspireddesigners
Afropop Socks is about more than socks. It’s about colour, culture, confidence, and stories worth wearing.

It’s been a long time coming. After nearly four years of back-and-forth emails and conversations, I can finally say we’re now stocked in one of the most prestigious museum institutions in the world, the V&A.
Founded in 1852, the Victoria and Albert Museum was created to celebrate art, design, and creativity from across the globe. Now, with the opening of @vam_east in London, a new chapter is being written, one that connects heritage with the future of culture.
To see AfroPopSock become part of this story, within a space that continues to champion global creativity, is a powerful moment.
Grateful for the journey, the persistence, and the synergy between culture, history, and contemporary expression.
