Since form the beginning of KUDURO dance , footwork was already been there. Footwork was always one of the main factors. It’s incredible how much details you can actually see every time we see this old schools dance. It’s amazing , nothing is being invented nowadays.
KUDURO underground is a dance style from Angola , it’s the original KUDURO version that’s developed during the late 80s and many moves started like this then other came along. So there aren’t many classes online or even in Angola of KUDURO underground because most people already forgot the moves and how to do the transitions. I teach all these in my afrokanza. I grew up watching this dance develop and learning from the Muchachos helped add more moves to my knowledge. Let me tell you , this dance is not beginner friendly so if you come for my class in this dance just be ready and don’t over pressure yourself. Allow yourself to make mistakes until it makes sense. One step after the other. Besides the moves I teach , You will love the music also.
I make these videos so we can all understand the dance and how it developed here in Luanda. I have been listening to my students and friends overseas questioning about the names of these dance moves and I had to constantly explain the same thing. I used to make a lot of short films with moves I used to teach my students. That way they can see how I apply the energy of the moves in the music I chose to dance to.
