Connected. When I look at this piece, I think about women first. The weight you carry every single day. The silent battles, the expectations, the responsibility, the pain, and still somehow the grace you move through life with. It gave me chills. This is my offering to all queens carrying worlds far bigger than themselves. Seen or unseen. Past, present, and those yet to come. All the way from Nigeria, Eno came to me for her very first tattoo. She humbled me throughout this entire process. Her strength while sitting through this piece was powerful to witness. While freehanding, I felt nothing but positive energy the entire time and I’m grateful for that, Eno. This piece speaks to movement, femininity, body adornment, life experiences, and ancestry. Ashe.
