✨Welcome to Black Pride!✨
I first started this series on TikTok back in the day and due to the current social climate I thought it be appropriate to revive it!
While the first 3 videos will focus on historical figures, I plan on expanded this concept to include artists, activists and even fictional characters that provided representation and inspiration to Black queer people. To keep in tune with my artsy brand, I will be creating a linocut to accompany each person I talk about.
Let me know if you like this series and tell me who you want me to talk about next!

SunJoy, 2023
Woodcut print on canvas
16 x 20
$250 now for sale
SunJoy encapsulates the beauty and rarity of a Black Man’s smile. We live in a bittersweet world where it becomes easy to hyper focus on everything going wrong. SunJoy reminds us that life is half and half, when all the hardships are conquered a smile awaits on the other side.

ROOTS & REMEMBRANCE 🌍✨
The beginning of something bigger.
We’re proud to introduce Diaspora in Dialogue — our First Fridays visual arts series at CNTR, dedicated to exploring identity, heritage, and culture across the African diaspora.
We open this journey on May 1st with Roots & Remembrance, a powerful group exhibition bringing together a collective of artists whose work reflects memory, lineage, and expression across generations.
But this is just the start.
From June through November, each First Friday, we’ll spotlight a featured artist with their own independent exhibition — giving them the space, platform, and energy to fully own their narrative and showcase their work.
At CNTR, we envision a world where every artist has the tools, access, and support they need to succeed and thrive.
We’ve worked closely with creative brands, DJs, and musicians to help elevate their work — and this series is about doing the same for visual artists.
These aren’t your average shows.
This is culture. This is intention. This is community in motion.
You don’t want to miss this.

Congratulations to our best performer chosen by the people @chasemercata !!!
Chase Mercata is an artist from Chesapeake, Virginia. He has the talents of a lyricist, fused with melodic croons and a smooth swagger. Since the age of 12, he has been writing his own music and doing shows and features with his peers with an aspiration to take the world by storm.
This is Chase’s third year performing with us and each year he rocks the Hub!
Check out his music and visit the Hub to see the show before we close on March 7th!

Test of Time
Priyah Bhagat
Textile Assemblage Dolls
$1300
Test of Time symbolizes the endurance of black love. We not only bring our individual lives into the relationship but our relationship lineage. Why do some relationships endure when others don’t?
It was never my desire to become a black doll artist. Did I have an appreciation for dolls, yes. I always say, “ creating dolls created me”. Priyah Bhagat, a self-taught doll artist. I wanted to create a decoration for my front door and it turned out to be a figure of a doll made from a wicker broom. I was hooked. I found myself not only creating dolls but researching their history, traditions and rituals here in the African Diaspora and around the world. That led me to create not only cloth dolls but mix media dolls and conduct doll making workshops using the doll as a vehicle for self-discovery and transformation. The doll is a powerful medium for story telling. I am grateful to be a part of that story.

Black Love
Page Hill
2026
Medium – Multimedia:
African Fabric, Felt, Cowrie Shells,
Wooden Symbols,
Hand and Machine Stitching
$385.00
Black Love reflects my understanding of love as a spiritual bond shaped by ancestry, care, and intention. Through hand and machine stitching, I honor the labor of those before me while grounding my practice in ritual and remembrance. The colors red, black, and green, along with the African continent, and other symbolism connect my story to collective Black identity and origin. The figures of a man and woman facing one another represent mutual recognition and sacred connection, grounded in respect and spiritual alignment.
An intentional space beside Africa invites the owner to place a personal object or image, completing the work with their own lineage and expression of Black love. Using felt and African fabric, the piece becomes a shared altar of connection across generations.
