Fifteen years. One capsule. Merchants marks a decade and a half of championing contemporary African design with Fifteen — a collection by new Creative Director Tiaan Nagel that draws from the quiet landscapes of Southern Africa. He described them as: “Pieces that feel considered in proportion and materiality.” And we agree! Natural fibres. Understated neutrals. Architectural shirts, cocoon kaftans, and unisex sets engineered to move between environments with ease. Relaxed, yet sculptural. Considered in every proportion. This collection also marks a new chapter: “Merchants on Long” becomes simply MERCHANTS — a broader vision, rooted in the same craft and discovery the brand was built on. #Merchants #africanrunways #Fifteen #AfricanFashion #ContemporaryAfrican TiaanNagel CapsuleCollection AfricanDesign SustainableFashion SlowFashion AfricanLuxury CapeTownFashion

The 2026 AMVCAs have further cemented Nigeria as the fashion capital of Africa. Beyond the show, why is the AMVCA a powerful pathway to building Nigeria’s soft power as a fashion powerhouse with exportable products? Join us as we break it down. Nana Akua Addo has created a reputation over the years of being one to watch for on the red carpet. She has experimented sucessfully with sculpture, wearable art, fashon engineering and architecture. Nana Akua Addo’s AMVCA 2026 look is an architectural silver gown built around the idea of a cathedral façade. The dress is structured as a metallic corset, with a sharply moulded bodice and a narrow waist before opening into a sculptural lower half. The most striking feature is the vertical cathedral form rising from the body: pointed spires, arched panels and layered silver framework that turn the gown into wearable architecture. We also take a lookback at her looks over the last 4 years - a clear indication that her reputation is well earned. 📸: edos_artistry #amvca2026 #amvca12 #africanrunways

Built like armour shaped into a red-carpet gown, Doyinsola David shines in this one of a kind fitted metallic dress. She has again gone back to the designer that dressed her last year (see last picture) and they have created magic yet again. The copper-red hair, gold cuffs, sculptural earrings are precisely the accessories needed to complement this look. 📸 @praise_that_photographer #AMVCA2026 #AMVCA12 #africanrunways

Elozonam always brings the drama with his fashion and this year is no different. It is clear that he is building a recognisable red-carpet look, by staying consistent and true year after year. One way of doing drama well is knowing when to hold back a little to let the drama shine. Elozonam does this by keeping his shirt minimal. A crisp white high-collar shirt, buttoned cleanly, with no tie. Keeps our eyes on the suit with all it detailing. #amvca12 #amvca2026 #africanrunways

Our spotlight this week is on Maryse Mbonyumutwa - one of the people working on production capacity within the African Continent. She is a Rwandan entrepreneur based in Kigali who studied in Brussels and spent more than two decades in the global garment business, building experience across Europe, China and Southeast Asia before founding Pink Mango in Belgium in 2011. Pink Mango began as a trading company and later expanded into garment manufacturing with operations in Rwanda. Today, its Rwanda business includes two factories focused on export outerwear and premium production. Jack Harlow arrived on the 2026 Met Gala carpet wearing Torishéju, the London-based label founded by Torishéju Dumi, a British designer of Nigerian-Brazilian heritage. An LVMH Prize 2025 finalist, Torishéju’s work is a representation of: Nigerian-Brazilian heritage, Catholic ritual, British tailoring, wrapped silhouettes, distortion, restraint. We take a look at her and her work. #africanrunways

Our spotlight today is on Fisayo Longe. And what a ride! Matter of fact, we had to speed up and cut this version down to fit reels. Want to watch the full thing? It is on TikTok. Fisayo Longe’s founder story is fluff-free and a valuable lesson in grit for anyone that wants to go the road of entrepreneurship. Was she lucky? Yes. But the sort of luck that was the case of being prepared when there was an opportunity. If she had not poured the hard work into her craft, the oppportunity would have passed her and Kai Collective by, #africanrunways

There are many reasons to have wooden accesories. When done right, they are a conversation starter and can typically last a long, long time. Here are 5 we like with a honorable mention that has leather as well. Which would you cop? #africanrunways #africanfashion #africanfashionaccessories #handbags #woodaccessories

Christie Brown’s new SS26 collection: Always, Love 2026, is here. The collection embodies what makes any woman looking for craftsmanship and impeccable style reach for a Christie Brown piece. We particularly loved seeing their signature laser cut design carried on in this collection. Across 39 pieces spanning fluid dresses to structured separates, the collection feels intimate, composed and unmistakably Christie Brown. It is a love story, told through cloth. Which piece is calling out to you? #ChristieBrown #ChristieBrownSS26 #AfricanFashion #GhanaianFashion GhanaianDesigners AfricanLuxury AfricanFashionDesigners LuxuryAfricanFashion #AfricanRunways AccraFashion MadeInGhana AfricanStyle ContemporaryAfricanFashion FashionCarousel
