Beautiful, wholesome, inspiring are my qualifiers for the conversations last Saturday
@africanadasummit organized by
@humansquadca and
@tundetash . It reminds of the bible quote “… And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” alluding to the biblical Esther who was graced and privileged at a specific time when the people of her nation needed her to be their spokesperson, saviour and deliverer. As African and immigrants in Diaspora, we carry the weight of responsibility like Esther to pay it forward, to be a connector, mediator and serve diligently as gatekeeper to allocate resources to benefit the African continent.
It’s a hard job because first, you have to be alright to help and sometimes when we are trying to be alright, trying to be stable, trying to get our footing, we tend to forget that gatekeeper goal but conversations like we had on Saturday helps to remind, and bring that goal back to mind. As Mr
@wrabiu said, don’t get too carried away and throw away what you used to do or who you used to be before you migrated. If you had a business before migrating, continue it. You have an initiative you founded and was a part of, don’t throw it away. It’s part of your identity, it’s part of your story and who you are. Most importantly we can do it together by collaborating with existing systems and processes, as
@efosaobano put it, there’s much value that can be created as a collective. We can achieve faster, farther and more when we go together

Thank you
@tundetash and all the wonderful people reminding us of this goal through their initiatives, collaborations and contributions to the community both in the Diaspora and in the African continent. And the recognition to all these people are well deserved! Congratulations again
