AFM round 1

First race weekend completed. It had its ups and downs, but by far what I’ll remember most are the amazing people who surround me and the incredible people I met this weekend.
A special thank you to my neighbor Andy — this weekend would not have been possible without his generosity.
I competed in 6 races (3 Saturday, 3 Sunday) and finished 5 of them, which honestly felt like a win in my book. Sunday morning, I had a crash on the second lap. I was trying a new approach into Turn 1 and just didn’t commit. I ran it wide and almost made it to the top of the hill before going over the handlebars.
I’m okay, and the bike only required a quick rebuild, which would not have been possible without my amazing pit crew:
@aids_spade @spooky.savvi @nohochproductions . Thank you all so much for the help and support this weekend — none of it would have been possible without you.
After the crash, I went on to hit a new PB (2:07). Placement wasn’t really the goal for me this weekend. The goal was to learn and absorb as much knowledge as possible without trashing myself or the bike.
We’ll carry that into Round 2, where I hope to be way more up to speed and complete all 6 races.
Overall, Round 1 was an absolute blast (which might be an understatement). I still have a lot to learn, but every road is built one mile at a time, and mine has only just begun.
