Salone del Mobile Milano
The Milan Design Week is one of the largest furniture and design fairs in the world. For one week Milan becomes an international hub, a place of exchange, presentation, seeing and being seen.
The city changes, temporarily new places are created and existing spaces are overwritten and reinterpreted. People from all over the world come to Milan, while everyday life and daily routines go on for the people of Milan.
OfAS Pavilon
BASE Milano
During his term of office, the artist Kai Altheim will be collecting evidence of the impact of Milan Design Week. Daily surveys of the city take place.
A pavilion made of reused materials, realised by social.form, serves as a temporary office. Throughout the week a growing collection of images and materials will be gathered and displayed at the OfAS pavilon. The pavilion is located in the courtyard of BASE Milano.
The final artistic work will be displayed online shortly after the Design Week.
Unsere neue Amtsstube!!!
Die ehemalige Tankstelle wird über die Sommermonate zur temporären Dienststelle des AfkV. Von hier aus sollen die Amtsleiter*innen für je einen Monat ihre Expeditionen in den Statdraum starten und ihre künstlerische Vermessung tätigen.

Das Atrium des Einkaufszentrum am See.
Direkt angeschlossen an unsere temporäre Amtsstube im "Chillaui Treff" befindet sich das offene Atrium des EKZ. Ein super Ort für Gemeinschaft, Begegnungen aller Art und natürlich für Kunst!
Von hier aus solle die künstlerische Vermessung starten und hier sollen auch die Ergebnisse präsentiert werden.
Unterstützt von dem Gestaltungsbüro @form.social wird zu Abschluss der Vermessungsarbeiten eine Raumgreifende Abschlussausstellung entstehen.

The OfAS pavilon at BASE Milano turned into the new starting point of the ongoing artistic surveying. Providing all functions of the office and covering the survey as well as a representation of the generell method of AfkV by social.form.

As head of the office, Kai Altheim developed a routine of capturing insights by looking around the city, putting up and organising the results on the walls of the OfAS pavilion and handcrafting the prints on site into diary-like brochures with visual stories and insights into Milan Design Week.

Aus dem Viertel in das Viertel - Der Doku-Film ab jetzt auf YouTube!
2021 holte die viermonatige Bespielung einer alten Tankstelle das Pallaswiesenmornewegviertel, kurz PaMo, aus dem Corona-Loch: Live-Konzerte, Theater, Lesungen, Workshops und vieles mehr. Parallel dazu besetzten drei KünstlerInnen jeweils einen Monat das „Amt für künstlerische Vermessung“ und setzten sich kreativ mit dem Viertel auseinander.
Der knapp dreißig minütige Doku-Film zum Projekt feierte letztes Jahr auf dem @pamoparkour Premiere.

In his residency Kai Altheim explores the effects of the Design Week on social and spatial relations in the urban space of Milan. He engages with places, people and boundaries and explores the theme of ‘inside and outside’ of the Design Week in form of a visual analysis. He photographs the urban realm and collects objects.

Kai Altheim
Kai Altheim is an artist working in photography and installation. In his works, he follows his interest in the socio-cultural phenomenons of city and landscape.
The head of office is in place! The ‘Office for Artistic Surveying’ has appointed the head of the ‘Artistic Surveying’ department. For five days, the new head of office will be surveying Milan Design Week in his own artistic approach. The aim is to gather knowledge and insights into existing structures and to find and point out relevant questions connected to the social and spatial transformation caused by the fair. By surveying the city, the artist will approach it, engage with it and enter into conversation.
The department of ‘OfAS’ is situated in the courtyard of BASE Milan.
The 'OfAS at Milan' Residence is supported by the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain.
