We tried a new concept! A beat making battle 😱🚀🚀 Producers came in and made a beat from scratch on the day only to showcase it in the evening in front of audience and our judge @thandidraai ! What a hit! So amazing to witness greatness, curiosity, creativity, unity and humble souls! Our top three recieved prices from @flstudio 🫶 Congratulations to everyone but specially to @sibanyonisizwe9 for taking first place ⭐️⭐️ Thank you Thandi for your knowledge and making the tough decisions. Thank you everyone who joined us for last weekends dance workshop at Afia presents SISONKE 🫶 As we stated on the day, we were unable to go through with the original plan of hosting @man_with_the_scarf (Aut/UG) for the workshop, due to visa complications he was not able to arrive in Jhb 😔 As sad as we felt we kept the momentum going and our two dedicated Afia team members/dancers filled the gap and taught the dance workshop with focus on Hiphop grooves, footwork, floorwork, freestyle and cyphers 🌿 Thank you @yascalasse and @joannaskywalker ❤️ More footage from the day is coming. Let us introduce to you our workshop teacher for the 21st of march: MAN WITH THE SCARF ✨️ all the way from Uganda, now residing in Austria coming to Joburg for this special occasion! 21 march Time: 12.30 - 14.30 Venue: Pop Art in Greensidr Joburg Jamali Abale is a multidisciplinary dance artist, cultural curator, and creative organizer born and raised between Uganda and Rwanda. Rooted in East African heritage, his movement language draws from a strong foundation in African traditional dance styles alongside street and freestyle forms, allowing him to bridge ancestral knowledge with contemporary street expression. He is a member of the Kali Clan (@kaliclan_iii ) and the founder of Bumu Tanz Kultur Collective, a platform dedicated to cultural exchange, community building, and the preservation and evolution of African dance practices. During his dance workshop you will get a taste of dances from the Bugandan Kingdom of Uganda: Nankasa, Bakisimba and Muwogola 🫶⭐️ the workshop emphasizes groove foundations, hip articulations, grounded footwork and communal expressions!
