BLACK EXCELLENCE 🎓 Today we celebrate us. In 2020 I graduated from UAL and today I was finally able to wear my cap & gown and celebrate achieving my bachelors degree. I wrote my dissertation on the positioning of Black women in Hip-Hop culture. Unaware of the broken events that would unfold, there wasn’t a more relevant time to speak on the misrepresentations of People of Colour and the mistreatment of our ancestors which has caused rooted inferiority in our current lives. My work reflected on a history of oppression endured by the Black woman. It mirrored the last traumatic and exhausting year which still bleeds into our time lives and responded to how these experiences shape a particular image in contemporary culture. I look at my peers around me and I see motivated, determined, beautiful individuals who will inspire and go on to change and generate those vital shifts. Our collective voices are weighted and I can’t wait for the world to see our magic. My motivators - you know who you are 💪🏾👏🏾🤎
