Deciding on who to pitch shift a semi tone was tough but today in the corner of the Key of E we had a victorious Bill.
It feels just as good smacking the octave on at appropriate times as inappropriate ones. My Lord it does a whole lot of heavy lifting too !

So the other day Musiq Soulchild stopped by for a bit of flapjack and was telling me that hed always wished he had re-recorded Just Friends with some bass chords and crappy drums.
I asked him what he meant to which he replied...
"Let me show you"
This tune is always such a banger to play live, it's the perfect mix of structured with lots of little openings for spontaneity. It just so happened that on this particular version @willhewerrw3 threw in some new hits that we were totally locked in on.
Honestly its those intense moments of unspoken connection that made me fall in love with music and it's one of the biggest parts of it still. (If it sounds like I'm in love with will it's because I am)
Honesty it just hit me so hard as soon as we finished I let out a scream of excitement before realising that the entirety of Islington assembly heard me and it's keeping me up at night... So I'm posting it online 🤙🤝
I was listening to this banger and got myself thinking ... What if Kylie had been a NeoSoul queen instead of a Pop one ? Slowed down, with some groovy drums.
The Bassline is one of my favourite of all time. It's a Raphael Sadiq line from Trippin by Lucy Pearl.
So many of his lines are pocket and restrained but he really lets it out on this one, simultaneously balanced on the knife edge of not over playing.
There are little tickles another of my favourite "busy not busy" basslines too. See if you can hear those little What's the Use moments dotted in there.
The more I use this @anacondabasses ultra J the more I'm falling in love with it !

Remixes the world could do without episode 2.
Big L and Chaka Khan coming together like eggs and mayonnaise to make egg mayonnaise.
Accidentally left my helix on tuner mode as you can see from the flashing lights in the bottom right... so I only had the backup dry signal but you know what I think it's alright.
Only realized before I posted there was a naughty word so enjoy a very tasteless mute.
Bingo time boys and girls, see if you can spot all the basslines I stole to stick together in the "Hell of a Drug" super mix.
You could say I used the cuts in the beginning to make it more interesting. It could also be because I almost fell over running from my computer after pressing record, but I suppose we will never know xxx (you know)
So I was excited to do a before and after of a string change to see how big the difference was. I've been holding out on putting some fresh DR High beams on my lakland for a while just to test this new recording setup out !
After a pretty subtle difference in A/B.. apparently my hands just turn all strings into dead strings... Turns out it is all in the touch after all 😅
