Japanese food and DRC RSV flight to celebrate @hungry.md ‘s revolution around the sun. The 07 and 16 were popped and poured over dinner while the 12 got a 3 hr decant ahead. All showed well with the 12 leading the pack at the beginning but 07 and 16 came roaring back by the end of the evening.

@phic999 generously blinded the table with this 2013 Liger Reignot. Gorgeous perfumed nose that screamed of Liger that made it easy to call. For a ‘13, it’s still drinking like a baby. Suggest a decant if you decide to open one.

In 1976, Steven Spurrier organized a blind wine tasting in Paris that changed the wine world forever.
Known as the Judgment of Paris, French judges sampled top French wines alongside unknown California wines—without knowing which was which. To nearly everyone’s shock, California wines won in both the red and white categories, beating some of France’s most celebrated labels.
What was meant to be a small tasting became a historic moment that proved world-class wine could come from outside Europe. Overnight, California earned global respect—and the wine world was never the same again.
It took me almost a decade to assemble 2 sets of the red line up. Very much looking forward to opening a set this year and celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic event.

It’s not horrible. Decanted right before dinner, gorgeous floral and raspberry noire exploded in the nose with a velvety and spicy palate. Smooth oak followed on that gave it a nice balanced finish. A great way to celebrate another life milestone.

Celebrating belated birthday at my favorite spot on Wonder cruise ship, the concierge lounge. Popped and poured, the Rousseau had amazing notes of red berries and flower on the nose. Palate was a bit tight in the beginning but became sublime with air. Finished it over the next 2 days and it was glorious.

1995 Krug Clos Du Mesnil opened to celebrate early wedding anniversary and crossing the equator aboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship. Still a lot of vibrancy and acidity in the bottle, this champagne drank well for its age.
I shared a glass with a couple who sat next to us celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and it blew the wife’s mind. It really goes to the old adage, wine tastes best when shared.
Extra bonus point, the bottle was signed by Ollie Krug.
