This work tells the story of the Holi festival through a piece of clothing that Indian people wear every single day. I created the entire piece by hand, sewing every detail myself. The garment is made entirely from white fabric and white beads.
India’s environment and cities are often very busy and full of color. If I told the story of Holi using bright colors, the work might not stand out. Instead, it could be overwhelmed by the colorful streets and surroundings. That is why I chose to make every part of this piece white, allowing the story to speak through form, texture, and craftsmanship rather than color.
