A little background to the work I have been doing recently, and some context to the work I will be sharing in the coming months, particularly with the croc research and videography! I also felt it was important to share a part of my journey that I have previously stayed quiet about, but in turn set me on a path to meet incredible people <3 Without the additional year of my degree, I would not be where I am today :) In the next few weeks I will be talking more about upcoming projects, exciting developments and sharing more about what it is I do as a zoologist and wildlife videographer! I hope you all will join me while I share lots of new ventures and thank you for your support throughout the journey so far! #zoologist #endometriosisawarenessmonth🎗 #ecology #marinebiology #crocodillians

A year ago we were working in Florida with crocs and gators, how time flies! 🐊☀️🌴✈️ 📑 All work was conducted under permits and for the purpose of animal welfare research ⚠️ Please do not try to interact with wildlife without the appropriate knowledge, permits and respect towards the species! If you have any questions about the work we did, how we travelled as students and completed this research, or have any other questions about our zoology degrees and experiences, drop me a message or comment on this reel :) #crocodileresearch #alligatorresearch #floridakeys #everglades #gatornest #studenttravel #coupletravel #vanlife #zoologystudents #zoologygraduates #bangoruniversity

Summer 2022 in Florida 🐊☀️🌴✈️ *all work with animals was done for research purposes and under licensing* Florida was such an incredible experience, and it wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for all the incredible people out in the field who gave us the most wonderful experiences and welcomed us with open arms! The environment in everglades feels like such a stark opposite of life in North Wales while we study, they couldn’t be more different! We’re looking forward to our next chance to go back out to Florida and enjoy time with wonderful people and experience this amazing place once more! If you want to see more of our antics while we study & travel, make sure to follow along! #everglades #evergladesnationalpark #crocodile #alligator #croc #gator #florida #floridagators #floridacrocodile #reptileresearch #reptiles #reptile #crocconservation #gatorresearch #crocresearch #student #studentlife #students #studentravel #travel #travelcouple #vanlife #usanationalparks #britsabroad #bangorni #bangoruniversity #studygram #dayinthelife #studentgram

From crocodile encounters to helicopter calculations, Amy showed pupils how science, adventure and maths come together in the world of wildlife research and filmmaking. Amy Stout is a Zoologist, Wildlife filmmaker and Education Officer at @tqcardiff co-managing the collaborative projects with us. During the event, Amy: 🐊 Shared fascinating insights into her fieldwork with crocodiles and alligators, including the astonishing fact that she has encountered around 800 crocodiles, both in the wild and in zoos! Unsurprisingly, this sparked plenty of curiosity and excitement among the pupils. 🛝 Gave a behind the scenes insight into day-to-day life at Techniquest describing the buzz of energy when it’s filled with curious young minds and having a slide in the building makes it all the more fun! 🚁 Highlighted the importance of maths within her work, from collecting and analysing data or calculating distances and fuel usage for boats and helicopters during expeditions, maths is an essential part of making wildlife research and filmmaking possible. ⛰️ Described she loves being active and outdoors in North Wales - hiking, paddle boarding, interacting with birds and engaging in wildlife conservation. When asked “What’s your favourite animal?” Amy replied “probably wolves or ravens as they have their own language that they communicate in🐺 A huge thank you to Amy for delivering an inspiring talk and for brilliantly hosting the event, connecting us with 120+ primary pupils across Wales 🩵

Early autumn spent enjoying what nature had to offer, including rainy days, rainbows in the sky and a lot of deer :) It’s easy to forget how much your doorstep has to offer when it comes to biodiversity, in the next few months I hope to share more of my quiet moments with nature that’s on my doorstep. I will also be collaborating with others to showcase their relationships with nature, particularly in Wales and along the Welsh coastline. If you want to see more of what can be found on your doorstep and feel inspired to connect with your local ecology, follow along with @ecologyunearthed a collective of passionate ecologists 🌱 #deerrutting #ruttingseason #ecologyunearthed #localecology #ukinautumn #richmondpark

“One’s happiness is, of course, something personal, something more his own than any possession.” I have taken some time away from the online world for a while, to spend time with family and to focus on uni and my health as well as the health of those around me <3 I hope everyone has had time to rest and re-set at this time of year, and that those with family have had time to connect and spend quality time together <3 I’ll be back to posting more regularly in a few months, but until then, I hope everyone is healthy and happy going into 2024 🫶🏼 #timewithfamily #burnoutrecovery #studentlife #zoologistlife #wildlifebiologist #university #winter2023 #selfcare #winterrest #findingthepeace #peaceofmind

The past few days were everything I wanted & needed with a break from both uni and work <3 A gentle reminder that burn out can be especially bad over winter months and keeping on top of your mental and physical health needs to be a priority, if you don’t choose when you take a break, your body will choose for you <3 A tonne of love to everyone who struggles in the darker months, remember to seek out loved ones and safe spaces when you need, and that the days will get lighter sooner than you think! 🫶🏼 Now onto more uni work, and I am excited to share with you all some of my new ventures, until then, enjoy some clips from my weekend away <3 #countryliving #ukwinter #wintersolstice #bonfirenight #samhain #autumnnights #zoologystudent #zoologist #womeninstem #girlmoss #granolagirl #connectingwithnature #livingthroughtheseasons #mastersstudent #darkacademiaaesthetic #logcabinliving #livingofftheland #weekendinnature

I spent the day picking flowers 🌷💐🌸 The benefits of picking flowers at your local farms ⬇️🌻🌾🐝 🚜 Promotes sustainable farming practices! 🫶🏼 Supports local businesses! 🐝 Provides pollinators with food and habitats! 🌾 Encourages other farmers to see planting flowers as a viable source of income for their land! 💐 A beautiful way to use our land, with wide varieties of flowers to enjoy and pick - encouraging local tourism! Picking flowers is also one of my favorite ways to find that calm amidst the chaos. 🌻💐 It's a simple act that allows you to slow down, be present, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. 🌷✨ #FindingCalmInTheChaos #NatureTherapy #BloomingBeautiful #naturelovers #naturephotography #travel #landscape #outdoors #adventure #localfarms #flowerpicking #southwales #supportingfarmers #shoplocal

Sod the algorithm <3 … Despite the fact these type of posts will not help this account grow, I will not pass up on sharing some of my favourite memories from this academic year with people I hold incredibly close to my heart <3 Instagram loves when everything fits neatly into a niche and this account leans heavily towards travel, nature and exploration so far. This post will likely not be the post that brings in new people to this page, but even if it brings a smile to someone else’s face, that’s enough for me :) #zoology #zoologist #student #gradstudent #ukuni #bangoruni #selfcare #unifamily #granolagirl

Some memories from our Florida road trip last summer 🌴☀️🌊🪸 There’s nothing like a road trip to clear your mind, if there’s one thing I hope to do more of after graduating, it’s finding more places to take road trips like this one! If you know of any places you’d love to go on a road trip to, or have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments :) #vanlife #ontheroad #floridakeys #studenttravel #zoologist #zoologystudents #summerroadtrip #lifeinthesun #coupletravel #mastersstudentlife
