Which sign are you reading? And why is America following the rich and famous, when their basics need attention. The sign says, "Homes for ALL OF US Not Playgrounds for Billionaires." Thats right, we are proposing something totally radical. Rather than give away public land to sports monarchs, and spending billions building a stadium, let's build a neighborhood for working families. So if you agree please support our latest ballot measure effort to stop the grand theft of public money for profit. Please donate to the cause at HomesNotStadiums.org
Last night I asked @mayor_bowser if she would commit to no publicly paid for subsidies for a new NFL stadium and basically provided for free to billionaires owning the Washington Football team. The Mayor loves NFL football so much that she’s willing give away $1 billion or more in public money when we have severe affordable housing deficit in DC and need this land for housing, already have a fully functional stadium down the road in MD, proof she is prioritizing NFL billionaires over the community. This project could happen with NFL paying their way for the sweet cash money they plan to make coming back to Washington DC. But we have weak leaders aka so called Democrats doing the negotiating. This kind of shit fires me up. One might recall in 2004 the fight we had over bringing the Nationals to DC. According to The Washington Post polling at the time 70% opposed and yet Major League Baseball for a $600 subsidy and Mayor Williams ended his career with it. We were able to force no cost overruns to be paid by the taxpayers by freaking out. It’s time freak locally DC.
Do you think we should subsidize a sports stadium for privately owned sports teams? Good use of taxpayers money? Should we spend a Billion on a stadium or affordable housing?
