Located on the hillside of Lembang, surrounded by spectacular natural views and lush gardens, the house sits in quiet dialogue with its landscape. The elevated setting offers both retreat and perspective — a place where time feels less urgent and nature becomes part of everyday living.
(Almost) completed over a three-year period (2023–2026), this project has become one of the most defining chapters in our portfolio. Not only because of its duration, but because of the rare alignment we found with the client — one of the youngest we have worked with, yet deeply resonant with our belief in slowing down, in returning to the tactile, in resisting the speed of contemporary life.
The search for period-correct mid-century furniture and architectural materials became part of the narrative itself — a careful curation of curios with memory and soul.
These pieces sit seamlessly alongside custom-designed elements, blurring the line between past and present.

AEDI DB Studio featured in Design Anthology No. 42 — now out.
This issue is about understanding a rhythm—a way of thinking, collaborating, and building that has quietly shaped our studio for more than twenty years.
We have come to realise that design does not begin at the drawing board. It begins in how we listen, how we pause, how we make room for reflection. In our studio, rest is not a disruption; it is part of the process—a necessary stillness that allows ideas to settle and people to be fully present.
This is where our human-centered approach takes form—not as a statement, but as a daily practice. One that acknowledges that every space we design carries the weight of someone’s life within it.
What we build is inseparable from how we work.
Our process is not rushed, but considered.
Not imposed, but grown.
And in that quiet, ongoing process, design becomes something more enduring—something lived.
We are grateful to be seen in this way.
Thank you, Design Anthology, for looking beyond the surface.

A Designer Point Of View
——
I’ve always been drawn to things that carry time.
Spaces, objects, light held between past and present.
Photography became more than a habit;
it’s where I learn to see, to compose, to feel.
Naturally, it finds its way back into my designs.
Lately, through the Fujifilm X Half. Compact, with a subtle digital-meets-analog sensibility, moving easily with me through the day.

We begin, quietly—
with a small act of kindness,
a simple gesture, gently given.
Not much, perhaps,
but enough to be felt.
Because in sharing what we have,
however little,
we become part of something greater—
a world made softer,
more thoughtful,
more human.

Eid Mubarak — may peace find its way, softly and surely. In hope of a gentler, kinder world.
From our studio to your home
Have a blessed holiday for all 💙

A warm afternoon with our friend from @musotrees , Kuala Lumpur.
A simple exchange of thoughts on design, work, and everyday life in Jakarta and KL.
Different contexts, shared curiosity.
Always good to slow down, listen, and learn something new.

Silence has its own language.
And sometimes, it’s the gentlest gestures that carry a project into its finest form.

As the year slowly settles, we gathered as a studio—
not to mark an ending, but to honour everything in between.
Around one long table, prepared with care by our own team,
we shared food, stories, and laughter shaped by months of effort, doubt, growth, and quiet breakthroughs.
Nothing about the evening was extravagant.
Yet it felt full—
because the table was filled by the people who carried this year side by side.

Over time, we learned that work grows better
when it is held with kindness.
So when something leaves our studio,
it carries more than design —
it carries attention, memory, and time.
This is our gift of gifting to our clients and partners.
From our pause to yours.
From our table to your home.
Wishing you all a beautiful holiday season.

This show unit project reflects our belief that the direction of a space is shaped by alignment—between spatial research, material context, and brand collaboration.
We explore a new interior language for the young generation market in North Jakarta, working with full creative latitude and in close dialogue with the developer’s sophisticated brand positioning.
The project moves forward as a collaborative process, focused on establishing a design direction that can last.
For living and dining area, light is treated as a defining architectural element. A custom Barrisol ceiling, developed and imported specifically for the project, is conceived as a continuous luminous surface rather than a conventional lighting fixture.
Printed with a washi paper–inspired texture, the membrane diffuses light evenly across the interior, softening glare and creating a controlled, ambient glow. Subtle linear lighting elements articulate the ceiling plane, lending a contemporary cadence while preserving a sense of calm.
Material decisions follow with the same discipline. They are never incidental. Classical marquetry joinery is reinterpreted into functional display elements, integrated directly into the architecture. The detailing is restrained and purposeful, allowing craftsmanship to support daily use. Through this approach, material becomes a quiet but defining presence.
This project comes together through careful technical decisions, where spatial flow and unique materiality are calibrated through everyday use.

Impromptu trips keep our creativity honest. When deadlines stack up, ideas can become predictable, even blocked.
Stepping away—without plans or pressure—creates the necessary distance for clarity.
For our studio, these moments are not a pause from work, but a considered disruption that keeps the creative process alive.
