When it comes to 🏡 air sealing, don't overlook those top and bottom plates. They’re often where things start to break down. If those connections aren’t sealed well, it shows up as drafts and cold floors.
Performance is built in the details, especially at transitions between materials.
This month's blog goes into detail on what to look for and how to fix it. >> 🔗 Link in bio

Project update pics incoming!
These progress shots are from earlier this spring, when there was still ❄️ snow on the ground in the mountains. Those views are probably looking a lot more 🌸 colorful by now.
This home is using Smartwin windows to bring high-performance to match the setting.

Airtight construction has benefits beyond air quality and lower utility costs. It is actually quite an effective form of 🕷️ pest control!
Fewer gaps in the envelope means fewer 🙅♂️ uninvited guests.
With SIGA tapes and membranes, you’re sealing the building envelope in a way that supports durability, efficiency, and a healthier indoor environment, without relying on chemicals or temporary fixes.
Build it tight. Keep it clean. Let 🐝 nature stay where it belongs.

🚰 Water use is top of mind here in Colorado.
At the April Golden Community Sustainability Advisory Board meeting, Todd and the group discussed the City of Golden moving into Drought Stage 1, with restrictions now in place as of May 1.
We all need to take simple actions to make a difference:
💧 Water lawns no more than two days per week (6:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.)
💧 Adjust sprinklers to avoid overspray
💧 Fix leaks within 10 days
As the City shared, these measures only work if we all take part. Small changes now help protect our water supply, trees, and community over time.
At AE, we’re always thinking about resource use, whether it’s energy or water. Our approach is rooted in making thoughtful decisions today that lead to better long-term outcomes, and helping share that awareness along the way.

🌼 Spring is showing off in Colorado.
All this color has us thinking about one of our favorite builds…especially that bold blue door.
This home pairs personality with performance, using @alpenhpp 625 windows to combine those springtime views with serious efficiency.
Proof that high-performance can still have a little 🎨 fun. We would love to talk about how to make that happen for you >> /contact/

🌼 April’s wrapping up, but there’s still time to get your orders in.
If you’re planning a build this season, now is the moment to lock in your products and keep things moving. Waiting too long can mean delays you’ll feel down the line.
It’s not too late…but its time to 🐰 hop on it!
Reach out, and let’s get things on track.

What can high-performance windows make possible in your home?
Here are a few things you can expect:
❌️ Fewer cold spots. Want to sit by the window with a book in the middle of winter? Go for it.
❌️ Fewer drafts. That mysterious chill by the couch? Gone.
❌️ Less noise infiltration. Midnight house party next door? Not your problem.
❌️ Less compromise between views and comfort. Floor-to-ceiling glass, even on the west wall, without turning your home into a sauna.
Read all about these benefits and more in this month’s blog. 👉 Link in bio

Our March blog on 🔄 microclimates and “mystery drafts” clearly hit 🎯 home. We had several replies from readers who have dealt with similar situations, like this one from a past customer:
"Yes! We had a house in Sloan's Lake with 20 ft. pitched ceilings, and you could feel a column of cold air descend on you when sitting on one of the couches in the living room. Not my favorite in the winter."
This is exactly what we’re talking about. Not always a leak, but convection currents created by cold surfaces and temperature differences inside the home.
If you’ve experienced this, you’re not alone, and it’s fixable with the right approach to your building envelope.
