Im beyond excited to share that @thenorthface has welcomed me into the #ADP (athlete development program) to help me accomplish my goals in the climbing field and figure out how to make whatever dreams I have in mind actually happen. There is in fact a long list haha but the first part is learning how to organize and learning how to work on the goals I have just for myself. I tend to put my community first, but I can’t fill anyone else’s cup if mine is empty. If you’ve followed me for a while you know that I love climbing and the outdoors, but whats missing is more folks who look like and identify with me. Its lonely, and I spend a lot of time finding a solution to this. I can’t do it alone but I’ve always done what I can. In this 2 year program my mentor @bookofsamuel will help me be the best me that I can in all the spaces that matter to me. My team at @thenorthface_climb will encourage me and I’ll encourage them as we train and get as strong as we possibly can using #thenorthface network. We’ll believe in each other when we forget how to believe in ourselves. I met most of our full team in July (which I will share about soon) and they are all inspiring and beautiful. I can’t wait to get to know them all more! And you should too! In fact, go follow them all right now: @unfriendlyblackhottie11 @frozone.jpeg @gracevonmett @nafeesa_andrabi @hootymer @helenredcloud @jayrawe1695 @johnpeternguyen @mamita_laurita @mayafm3 @rod.farvard @ruby_lindquist @s.gorman @marshikes @neodude I’m feeling super grateful, humbled, and beyond excited to get started. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøāœØ @thenorthface @thenorthface_climb @beta_labs @tensionclimbing @gunksapps @centralrockmanhattan @centralrockgym @lasportiva #blackgirlsboulder #gunksapps #athlete #tensionclimbing #NeverStopExploring #centralrockgym #centralrockmanhattan #betalabs #betabrigade #builttoclimb #arcteryx #lasportiva #smallbutmighty #browngirlsclimb #melanin #trusttheprocess climb #climbing #boulder #bouldering #girlswhoclimb #tension #climbwithhonor #training #settertings #foryourmountain

One of my favorite boulders in the left cove is this pace changing traverse. Some sections are slow, other sections are fast, and like most climbs there’s a few ways through it. I like my current beta best for the efficiency and fun. The left step through was the crux for me, I tried many static variations first but none of them allowed me to get my weight all the way right of the volume. Its almost impossible to stand on the right side of the volume with no hands because of the extreme slant and slippery texture. Standing between the volumes that face each other is certainly forced and that position has to be achieved rather quickly. The next section took less time. Most climbers use the undercling close to the volume foot to maintain a bit of balance while they throw themselves up and right to the finish hold, but I could not figure out the path my body needed to take to gain height. Its a pretty barn door position coming out of a slight overhang. Trying it in isolation I decided to give up the intended challenge and jump for the jug volumes, which some other climber had done earlier in the week. I flashed to the top from there, then went back to finish the climb from the start. With setting deferred to Chelsea this week, you’ve gained an extension to send this climb! @arcteryx @beta_labs @tensionclimbing @gunksapps @centralrockmanhattan @centralrockgym @lasportiva

Top 10 moments from the week of setting youth rope regionals @gravityvault_melville 10. Getting to work with such talented, thoughtful, and patient setters. I learned a lot from the different conversations and it was nice to see how other setters edit climbs. 9. I learned about a new traxion device on a rolly clip and this made hauling buckets or giant volumes up to me hella smoother 8. I had so much rope systems practice for hauling and I was able to refer back to my CWA WAH Lvl 1 training from the past summer in real situations. 7. This was my first time setting ropes on an incline without a lift. Definitely a learning curve but I brought all the tools I needed and I was confident in my systems even while experimenting. 6. I was more nervous than usual about taking lead falls because of an ankle injury I got at the beginning of the year forerunning boulders, but I foreran just top rope and gave belays for lead. 5. Liam gave us oreo reeses!!!!!!!! 4. The absence of anxiety and time as a pressure cooker really let us take the time to give every climb a ton of attention. 3. One of our U13 climbers celebrated after fighting for the top of his 3rd route. His roar of excitement and relief were so contagious. Brought THE BIGGEST smile to my face ā¤ļø 2. Evan pulled Ethan and Josh around in a pullcart and it was so adorable I squealed pulling out my phone. 1. Our chief’s debriefs each day that kept us focused and thoughtful. @arcteryx @beta_labs @tensionclimbing @gunksapps @lasportiva @usac.region91

Another setting time lapse, this time in the right flat at @centralrockchelsea I didn’t get my entire setting session on tape, but the toughest and most important pieces were the circular volumes. Similar visuals to last week’s huge fiberglas orbs, but the movement and climbs are entirely different. I set the orange v7 first knowing it would be my hardest boulder and I wanted the volumes spaced well for the moves I intended. Next I set a simple v0 traverse because it would need the most resources to achieve the target grade. Afterward I set an intermediate double clutch dyno with purple holds. I added the ramp volumes for feet. Then I set a simple stand up and balance boulder with some new white jugs that just arrived. Lastly I set a mantle start with black holds and the circular volume stack, and ended with some pinches and footwork at the top of the boulder. I had to work an event a little after the setting day so I stayed to watch people interact with the climbs and I’m very pleased with the challenges our climbers were given. It was also fun to watch them celebrate after topping one or two that they enjoyed. @arcteryx @beta_labs @tensionclimbing @gunksapps @centralrockmanhattan @centralrockgym @lasportiva

I’ve been off the grid for a bit, but I’ve been hella busy irl. After I took my girlfriend to Bishop I went straight back to work and then had the chance to set for a youth regionals rope comp. My body is tirrrrrrredddddddd lol but my mind is so stimulated by all the different places I’ve climbed, questions I’ve asked, and conversations I’ve had about movement and routesetting. I really will do a lil post for both travels but for first, I’m excited to have set some climbs that really excited me at the home base. The pink v5 is a replica of a portion of a boulder my partner climbed in Bishop at the happies. I really wanted her to experience throwing a right heel off a sidepull, bumping the left hand in for a compression, and use some sort of tension to exit the super inclined angle of the wall. And there’s some slab wrestling at the top because why not? 🄰 As for the black v3 I just really wanted to use those huge orb fiberglas so I grabbed them and threw them on the wall first. I then filled the empty space with juggy single-handed holds and wanted the climber to travel a distance across different angles. I really really enjoyed climbing both and I can’t wait to watch folks try all four of my boulders! @arcteryx @beta_labs @tensionclimbing @gunksapps @centralrockmanhattan @centralrockgym @lasportiva

That’s a wrap for @heyflashfoxy Bishop Festival 2026! It was an absolute honor and a blast! I brought my girlfriend with me for her first time climbing outdoors, her first climbing festival, and first time on aerial silks! We bonded over just how GORGEOUS the mountains are ✨✨✨ More on all of that later. For now, here was a cute lil moment on aerial silks. I miss doing circus and pole, I might start visiting a studio weekly again ✨ @arcteryxnewyork @lasportivana @beta_labs @gunksapps @easternsierraaerialarts

@kevintetsu set a cartwheel on the logo wall and I had to give it a try! Its been a member request for years now and I think he did a great job! Alternate beta opens up for you provided you have super flexible hips, but honestly it’s more fun to go upside down. The hardest part was remembering to activate the lats and stack the bones, as well as using the fingertips to grab the outside of the sloper. For some reason I do all of these things with control when I do a normal cartwheel or even a one-armed cartwheel but hopping on the boulder made me switch to a climb mindset. This is a great reminder that so many skills translate across movement and sports. I hope you get a chance to try it if you’re in town! @arcteryx @beta_labs @tensionclimbing @gunksapps @centralrockmanhattan @centralrockgym @lasportivana

Welcome @climbbeyondthebarrier ’s newest ambassador for BiC NY, Ady Wright! I’m a Bronx, NY native who’s been climbing since 2013. It started out as a hobby in between my pre-veterinary studies and internships, but I got so hooked that I started working at my first gym part time and spent ALL of my free time in our tiny community. I’ve competed, coached teams and individuals of all ages, taught clinics outdoors and indoors, gained some climbing sponsorships, and eventually got into routesetting. In all my years in this industry, what brings me back is always community and providing opportunity for others in affinity spaces. I’m excited to be a Climb Beyond the Barrier ambassador because though I have limited free time, I can still help make folks feel welcome and create a safe space for us. Come say hello to Ady the next time you’re at BiC! #climbersofcolor #bipoc #newyorkcity #climbing #communityleader
