In light of the First Monday in May tomorrow, we look back to our Met Gala debut with @chiosse .
Chi and I started working together in 2021. When he took his City Council seat and received his Met Gala invite, he wanted to wear a designer from the Brooklyn district he represented… so he walked over to my studio and we designed the look together.
The theme was Karl Lagerfeld. I happened to have a bunch of books on him at the studio, so we opened them up and talked through what we loved and what we wanted to pull from. About 30 minutes later, we had our first sketch of what would become his Met Gala look.

His work has been worn by cultural icons like Stevie Wonder, Phoebe Bridgers, and Stephen Curry.
