“Lovely Florence” is easily the most ambitious project Red Beak has ever done. Combining a period piece with the thrills of an action film is no easy task, but I would not trade any moment of it for the world. Cora and Josh were an amazing combo of director and cinematographer. Their hard work secured this project’s success, and without them, none of this would have been possible. With Wren, Evan, Nick, and Parker by their sides as editor, camera, sound and gaffer, they were a force to be reckoned with on set. Also, shoutout to Marianne for constantly checking our continuity errors. Praise also needs to be given to Heather, who worked on securing the locations, food, and every other necessity needed for the film before we even stepped foot on set. Art department also deserves immense praise. Lucas, Rowan, Jack, and Mark managed to acquire or create the various props, set pieces, makeup, and costume elements seen on screen. We would not have half the film we worked on without their efforts. (Also, shoutout to @setx_3d_printing for printing some of the props we used.) Without our grip team, I don’t think half the film would have been finished in time. Shakarral, Jack L, Karina, An, and Auston all worked hard helping us with every big and little task we needed. They were the backbone of the whole film. Special thanks needs to be given to @spindletopboomtownmuseum and Kaylea Daigle for allowing us to film at their locations. They were a pleasure to work with! We hope to work with them soon. Thanks also needs to be given to Elijah for grabbing literally every little thing we forgot on set Mal, Dalia, Travis, Evan, Jorge, Santiago, Brock, Matthew, Josh, Mark, and Heather also need to be given praise for their acting. They all played their characters amazingly, and truly made each scene their own. None of this would have been possible without their hard work and dedication. This film was easily one of the biggest learning experiences I’ve had in my career(?). I will cherish every moment I had on this set and cannot wait to work with the members of @redbeakproductions again. All of this to say, “Lovely Florence” Coming soon

@redbeakproductions and I were blessed with the chance to meet with fellow students from @ricecinemaclub and the University of Houston at the Rice University Media Mixer! It was an amazing and informative event that I encourage others to join if you are interested in getting involved in filmmaking and media in Texas! I look forward to future collaborations with these driven and talented students!

I’m having a hard time writing this because there’s so much I want to say. Let me start with this; every single person on this team deserves praise. Their work ethic and dedication is the best I have seen from any project I’ve worked on. There were many periods where I was left in pure awe from what I was seeing. Our actors gave performances that left the crew shivering in fear and disgust, but still smiling because we all knew that we’d gotten it on camera. Our crew turned corn syrup into blood, sticks into fire, and neon tubes into moonlight. We turned hours of footage, of laughter, of tears, and of shouting cultish chants into a short film. Proud does not even begin to describe how I feel about this team. Their work was impeccable, and I pray that I get to work with them again. All of this is to say: NOLA Coming soon

I was already thinking of making a post like this, but @mrstevie18 ’s having a giveaway for the biggest Tron fan, so now I have to, lol. I remember seeing Tron: Legacy in theaters with my dad and falling in love with the world of the Grid almost instantly. It was a movie like no other — circuits made into freeways and disk wars fought in arenas of light. I remember wanting so much more from the world of Tron that once I found out it was actually the second movie in the series, 8 year old me wanted to find the DVD for the first movie (which I did at a Walmart not too long after). I loved the world of Tron all over again. And then? A show! Tron Uprising quickly became one of my favorite shows ever (and it honestly still is). It has such great writing, phenomenal animation, and engaging stories that shows with 10 seasons could only dream of accomplishing what Uprising did in just 19 episodes. Then, Uprising was cancelled, and the next movie in the series — at the time, called Tron: Ascension — was in development hell. Until now. It’s insane going from waiting 15 years to now waiting a mere few hours outside an IMAX theater. I was in Kindergarten when Legacy came out, now I’m in college. Insane. What’s also insane is how Tron has influenced me since I was in Kindergarten. The series helped me fall in love with everything from motorcycles to neon-lit cities to music that blends orchestras with synthesizers. Its showed me with its visual effects the wonders that science and creativity can create once they are imbued with ambition and love for a good story, which is something I find inspiring to myself as an engineering major who likes working on short films. I don’t really know how to conclude this other than that fifteen years is a long time to be waiting for a movie. I’m just glad to have been able to experience all that I have in those years, that I’ve been able to meet so many awesome friends, and that life has been good to me.
