I’m incredibly honoured and excited to share that I have been named a finalist for this year’s LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize. I’m looking forward to meeting the other finalists and seeing their amazing works this May when I head back to Singapore for the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Below text by @loewefoundation Introducing the shortlist for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026. The Prize was founded in 2016 to champion craft in all of its forms from all over the world. 27&28.04.2026 First wild camping experience This is one of the core memories of us camping. During our stay in Alishan, the host of our B&B invited us to join him and his friends for a camp at Aowanda National Forest Park. Louis and I were extremely excited, since we have been waiting for four and a half years to have a chance to go camping here in Taiwan. The walk from where we parked the car was relaxing, then arduous, then lots is crossing of small streams that surprisingly had a rather strong current. I wore my bare-foot sandals and could feel every stone, pebble and sand under my feet. It was a very grounding experience. We camped the night at a small clearing next to the stream and our camping companions made a fire, and built a hot stone frying plate using the stones from the river side, using wood fire to cook our dinner. The spot is beautiful. It became really cold after the sun set and even though I brought warm clothes, I was still utterly cold even in my sleeping bag. One of the things I learned on this trip, you can pack really light and still be comfortable. Looking forward to more camping trips with @louiskwok #louisandadelene

BOOK/LANGUAGE. 書/語 An introductory Book Arts workshop for the students at TNNUA as part of a bilingual program to encourage students to use English and to experience the craft of bookbinding. It was a very wonderful and engaging experience for me, seeing how the students from different material background approach book arts in very different ways. It was an extremely rewarding three Thursday afternoons. #bookarts #tnnuabookarts #bookbinding #adelenethebookbinder Photos by @louiskwok

For a few weeks I was feeling rather overwhelmed by things happening in my life - school, research, personal work, health, etc. My TCM doctor said I needed to ‘reset’ and prescribed me a 2D1N trip to Alishan. Alishan has been on our to-do-list since the first year we came to Taiwan, but we never got around the logistics of it. A few days ago, out of the blue, we were introduced to this place. We just booked and went for it. It was the best impromptu decision ever. The mountains, the tea plantations, the trees, the wind, the sea of stars at night, fireflies. I really needed this trip. I think everyone needs such trips. #microtrips #alishan #taiwan @aduhlene

Happy birthday, Lolla. Lolla shows her extreme displeasure at our rendition of her in a princess gown. What’s worse is that we made it into a life-size standee. It made us laugh a lot though, because that’s how you look like in our hearts. Love you so very much, dear princess. #hellofromtainan @thesombongs Photos by @louiskwok

Absolutely love this flower arrangement by my bestest classmate @baibai880505 . Thank you so much~ The colours are exactly the kind I love — bold, a little wild, and very whimsical. It feels like something that belongs in my world. I also love that they’re dried flowers, so they’ll last a long time with almost no care. And there’s even a little crystal tucked quietly among the flowers. Flower arrangements by @choosing_flower for delivery within Taiwan.

馬年吉祥 萬事如意 I initially went on the AI bandwagon and asked for a drawing. But somehow I felt very uneasy about it. So I ended up drawing the Farmers’ New Year (Yes, it is 農曆新年, and 農曆 means agriculture calendar) greeting on Procreate. Inspired by a paper cut I did some days ago at our friends’ home, when everyone was busy writing 春聯, me being me, I can’t write for nuts so I ended up folding and cutting, something I am better at. Hope this rendition of our four cats reflect their individual characters. Have a wonderful Horse year ahead!

Today we did a little long overdue photoshoot of me in my studio. My bookbinding studio has grown, shrank, packed into boxes, expanded, contracted and now this is what it looks like. Dydy used to be the queen of my studio, now Obi seems to have taken over that right as the little chaotic studio assistant with paws. To more fun creative adventures in this small space I live, breathe and make in.

Thank you @whereishazel_tattoo for your beautiful art and for the wonderful session today. When I first saw the post of this tattoo, it came with this very beautiful text: 神的孩子都在跳舞 以野營生的野火作為發想,開心的玩,開心的跳,開心的笑。I love it because I wanted a tattoo of fire, but not too literal with realistic flames or colours. This tattoo speaks fun, joy, laughter and happiness. Even as a black tattoo, it gives off a lot of warmth. There were two designs and I am so happy and grateful that the one I liked was not claimed yet. So here it is, on my hand, two little fire spirits, sending warmth to me, and to all.

It was a rather steep learning curve but I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself this semester teaching the Bookbinding module for the MA in Conservation of Paper relics for my alma mater, TNNUA. I am truly grateful for this experience and this opportunity to teach at a tertiary level. What a great way to start 2026 with the completion of this class. #tnnua #adelenethebookbinder #bookbinding #傳統工藝 #裝禎
