I first came across Adriano at about age thirteen, when I signed up for his Brazilian percussion class at a Summer School. Despite having no prior experience in percussion or in improvisation, I felt instantly at ease in his classes, and a whole world felt like it opened up; as a result Brazilian music still holds a very special place in my heart. Above all, Adriano was the first person I came across who infused so much joy and meaning into every musical situation, and I still strive to achieve even a small part of that when I play music. This will be a very special concert with a widely varied programme and a bucket load of joy, and I can’t wait to be back on stage with Adriano 😊😊
