Last month I got to be part of a @spencerbadu rbadu campaign where I was specifically asked to Krump, what a blessing on multiple ends.
I have a lot of respect for the quality and intellectual art practice that is the Spencer Badu namesake brand. The quality and direction are award-winning for a reason. But beyond that, I truly respect the community this brand creates and cultivates.
As a Krump dancer, community development is something I’m always subconsciously paying attention to, it’s such an important part of the culture. So when I see it done with intention, it stands out.
This was one of the first brands where I felt I could attend, learn, and grow in my understanding of clothing and the cultural references involved, with genuinely thoughtful leaders guiding the experience.
Although this is a brand selling products, I don’t feel invited into a Spencer Badu space just to buy, I feel invited to stay awhile and really understand the stories they’re telling through each piece.
Thanks again to @spencerbadu for bringing Krump into your world.
World
That's not real
Love (A love)
That's not real enough for me
World
Your world is not real enough for me
I don't feel
I can't take it
Much like falling down, down
For your love, no
I don't see it, no
I can't feel it
Much like being a clown, clown, clown
For your love, no
