Week 6 in the Dragon Quest rollout is here with a song called New Dominion, inspired by our home state of #VIRGINIA
Lyrically, Adrian recalls his summer memories at the beach in the 757.
Personally, this song was directly inspired by @pierrebourne - the producer who most influenced me at the time I started writing this album. You might know him as the producer of Playboi Carti’s early work.
I was instantly hooked by his take on modern trap and #hiphop - and it put me firmly on the #beatmaker path.

Week 4 in the #DragonQuest rollout is here with a new song called Understand!
A few notes on the song…
- Amei’s voice is used tonally, without lyrics
- It’s the longest song on the album at 7 minutes
- I used Adrian’s autotune as an “electric guitar” lead of sorts, which was originally a backing track to another lyric.
- It’s the only song that I contributed lyrics to…
Adrian’s verse includes the phrase “God is Love”, so I chopped and repeated it thru the chorus. Then I thought let’s expand the concept, which you can hear in the culmination of the song (the 2nd clip). Gotta think positive!

“OUR TIME keeps slipping away….and my mind keeps slipping away…”
Lyrically this one is a bit melancholy, but making it was pure joy! In fact the song that inspired the vocal passage at the end (God Only Knows) is the same exact story, but more on that later!
On the topic of time #slipping away - if you subscribe to the idea that this life is all you’ll ever know, then all the more reason to appreciate every moment you have!

Week 2 of the #DragonQuest rollout is here with our new song SOUL GALLERY.
Originally, Adrian wrote lyrics about BLM for this one back in 2020, but time passed and it became yet another #lovesong of sorts, which is rather fitting for the album! All in all, one of my favorite verses on the LP.
The song meanders through several sections, key changes, melodies, and transitions. It has a mind of its own and honestly I don’t even feel that I’m in the drivers seat. Music is fun like that.
Can you place the vocal sample midway through the song? It should be rather easy! HInt: 90s R&B GOAT-level classic.
